PoHq: Unlimited Amazon storage is available in NZ yes I have it. I got it purposely to try out Plex Cloud. You get a free 3 month trial. I've signed up to the Plex clout beta but haven't received an invite yet. I've uploaded just a little content to Amazon just to test it out. Hopefully my invite comes through before Amazon unlimited trial ends.

My synology box downloads my TV shows and can auto sync straight to Amazon cloud.

On paper for me it's perfect.........but the content issue is a sticking point. Will need to see how it pans out.

My question is a little off topic, but how do you find the upload speed to Amazon? I'm getting anywhere between 400kb - 1MBs using their upload tool. (On Gigabit UFB)

yea ive found the upload speed to be average at a about 300-600KB/s (2.4-3.2mbps) on my 30mbps VDSL Connection

uploading to one drive is about 5x faster

Storage of copyright content on the cloud... Not sure about that. Second, you put movies there and then want to watch then. On a NAS you can pretty much have full speed. On a cloud service? Not so much.

I never really did understand the reason why they created the cloud thing. Sure it would be great for home movies if you are out and about but then you use mobile data to steam it, just easier to save them on the phone.

If you did put all your collection up on google drive/one drive and your internet stopped working then you are out of luck, On a NAS you still have them to watch.

Is it for people that don't want to leave a machine on all the time? I don't see the benefit myself, but this is the only reason I can think of
