I don't even use the PS3, it's only there as a DVD player. Are they worth anything? I could sell it and buy a basic DVD player, get rid of the PS3 adapter.

Good point about multibox on the wall, the transformers would just fall out. I don't think a shelf would help much so they can just stay on the floor. I'll just tie those cables together as well.

We put up fireguards around our fireplace, screwed into the wall and AV gear, and took them down when the kids turned 4. My Son was told once not to touch it, and never went near it again, my daughter, it never seemed to end how many times we told her.

Unbelievable to me, that two kids raised by the same parents, in damn near as close to identical circumstances could be so different. You wouldn't even believe they were related by appearance :) (and yes I am quite certain both are mine :))

Yeah we might have to do that. I don't really want to have to drill holes in things but it may be the only way.

One time I was in Harvey Norman they a power management hub that fits on a AV cabinet shelf like an AV component.

One mains lead going into your cabinet and you plug the component power leads into the hub within the cabinet.

It had emergency saving outlets that would turn components off that were inactive for x minutes and also always on outlets. Remote control too.

I don't remember the details or price - just thinking "that's clever"

Are you willing to sacrifice some of your internal space for power management? Our current tv cabinet has everything internal with holes and grommets to pass cables where they need to go. You can then put a kiddy lock on the door or drawer (the invisible magnet ones are good).

See the picture of the new cabinet. It's drawers and open, no spare internal space as far as I can see.

I had a quick google and I can't find anything like that still in production.

I believe the PS3 is still actually one of the best DVD players in terms of upscaling to 1080p.
