The HVR2200 has been on backorder for some time now and the estimated shipping date has been pushed out several times already so i wouldn't hold your breath on it arriving on the 16th. I've been waiting for almost a month now for it to arrive...

As for the MediaPortal compatibility the card will work as a Digital tuner only until they add support for the analogue side of things.

I have a Nova-T and am replacing it with the HVR2200 as it's a PCI-e card and i have no more PCI slots for any cards but have spare PCI-e's. Make sure you wouldn't be in the same situation if you are thinking about getting a Nova-T instead.

Let me know how you get on with this installation as its simliar to mine.
Im looking at either the HVR2200 or HD 500 for a TV card to do Freeview HD.

I have similar specs:
AMD BE2350+
780G with onboard 3200
2GB corsair.

Wanting to know if it will run Freeview HD fine with this card?

Hi!

I am happy to see you guys are using the same mobo as I do, so I can ask what do you think. I got good picture quality from the beginning, but I started to investigate some issues with "motion trail" and scrolling text not really scrolling but jumping.

I was advised by many users to get a video card, as the 780G chipset... well, something is wrong with it and it CANNOT handle hardware acceleration, or deinterlacing, or simmilar... so here i am, looking for an 8600GT to "help" my well acclaimed mobo, with revolutionary chipset... and XP is not very good environmet, I have to switch to Vista, to get the EVR enabled.

Do you get the same "motion blurr" when image is panning or in fast moving scenes? especially on TV3, I have to admit that.

One more thing: I used HDMI from the first minute (HDMI on the mobo was another selling point) and it worked with no problems. But if you switch the TV to another input and stay there for one minute, there is no signal on the HDMI when you come back yo it. You have to restart the pc to get it working again.

I was thinking Powercinema will be smart enough to use the second tuner when "switch channel" command is sent and recording is in progress already... How do you do it?

I haven't got my TV card yet (HVR 2200) as waiting on a bit more news around here about how it goes. Its a bit off putting to hear that it might not be any good with onbaord bvideo. This was the whole reason why I went with the motherboard and AMD.
I haven't noticed an issue with scrolling but will check that out and get back to you.

I do get the issue with HDMI however, slightlly different though. If I turn on PC and don't switch it to HDMI before it boots then I cannot get a picture and need to reboot. Once it has booted though I can switch back to other inputs and back to my HDMI without any issues. I need to try the latest BIOS to see if this is resolved. Hopefully I don't need to do it with a floppy disk...
What fix did you hear about?

Works fine with kiwijunglists onboard. He had to buy a dvi detective for hdmi switch-off.

Correct. DVI Detective seemed to be the best fix, however it cost me about $150 incl postage from USA.

Other fixes i didn't try are.

1. Setting a hotkey or batch file via the remote control that changes the screen refresh rate to a different resolution then automatically changes it back to 1920x1080 or what ever res your tv runs at, i read that this will get the HDMI signal going again after it has switched off.

2. Another idea which I never tried is... I notice that there is an option to turn the monitor on and off in mediaportal under mediaportal configuration -> ?general settings. I wonder if this option could restore the HDMI signal after it has switched off.

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF VISTA CAN TURN AN LCD TV ON + OFF VIA THE HDMI CABLE??? I'm not talking about dropping the signal, im talking about cutting power to the monitor. My Samsung N81BX 1080P LCD has a communication protocol called ANYNET that can control other devices via the HDMI cable I'm wondering if anyone has any information on this working for an HTPC?

How are you controlling you're (HT)PC? If you have the MCE remote, you can configure the TV button -top left- to control the TV. Or maybe an MCE keyboard? Same applies. Otherwise, I'm sorry but can't help. The remotes go for about $70-$85 & I find it indispensible. Can control the entire Mediaportal frontend with it.

Another possibility is a learning remote. I use an older model: Remote Master RM-2002. With it I can setup macros. These are remote signal combinations with a single button. ie. Press button #1 = resumes HTPC: turns on AV receiver & sets it to the correct source: turns on TV & sets it to correct AV channel.

so can you set up the IR blasters to control the TV / stereo via the HTPC?

can you set up a function so that when the HTPC suspends to S3 it turns of the TV and when you wake from S3 it turns the TV back on??

yes, I have both tuners configured. I run the scanning twice. I also deactivated a setting which sounds like the buffer records all the time. I do not recall the name of the setting, it is in TV menu, I believe is the last one at the bottom. It is enabled by default. But I still record the channel I switch to, without any confirmation.

I ordered the HVR 2200 yesterday but got a reply saying that because there are several issues with it at the moment they have held back on supplying them. Any ideas for another good dual tuner around $150 mark for freeview? Must include analog aswell.

Also by the way regarding the talk about hdmi issues. I have the TV connected by a dvi to HDMI cable and only issue I have is that I must have tv switch to hdmi when it boots but after this I can freely switch between TV, including putting computer to sleep and waking it up.

Will be ordering the Harmony 525 remote with the TV tuner, has anyone got this setup for DVB viewer?

i guess your not using vista64 bit. i dont think there are any problems in xp with losing the signal.
did you know that HVR 2200 analog mode doesn't work with mediaportal?
but the digital side of things work perfectly.
also i cant get the radio going in mediaportal either.
