So I had a good poke about in Wellington today and settled on the Bose Revolve. The Revolve Plus was just a bit large for the intended use. The Revolve is heavier than I would have preferred but the sound is really pretty good for something that size and shape.

Ideally I would probably have got the Kef Muon but at about $500 that is more than I wanted to spend. Maybe I will get one for the house some time - and it's certainly cheaper than the $100,000 Kef Muo from which it takes it's design cues!

Sorry but I have been away from GZ for a bit so never got to answer your mono question in a previous post.  Good to hear you landed on the Bose Revolve.  As another poster said, left and right speaker separation in the portable BT speaker world is limited anyway.

You should now buy a travel case for it.  I got something for my Revolve+ which is similar to the first speaker in this link https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=bose+revolve+case.  There was only one Revolve+ case available at the time so I ended up finding it on eBay.
