I'm in Canterbury - on Trademe I'd filtered out other regions assuming postage would be too expensive, but the KEF Egg guy only quoted $60 including sub, sounds like a pretty sweet deal. I'm guessing they'll go for a lot more than the current price so I'll keep an eye on it.  I had trouble trying to find how much would be "too much" to pay by googling.

IIRC, the Eggs I bought new from JB were about $1100 on special (that's for the full set of five and sub), and that was like seven years ago. Then again, I sometimes can't work out the kind of prices some people are willing to pay for s/h products on TM - sometimes you'll get a good deal, but other times people are happy to pay stupid prices.

My suggestion of going s/h can take time to find something good (and at a good price), but it's often worth it given the relative quality you'll get for the outlay. Perhaps subscribe to the "home theatre sets" category on TM and keep an eye on that? A quick perusal of that brought up the following (in addition to the Kef Eggs I linked to earlier):

Not making any comment re the quality of any of these systems, as I've no experience of them (other than the Kefs, which I'd recommend for your purposes), but more just showing some of the options out there.

Dunnersfella:

Would I be out of line to suggest that the OTHER retailers on Amazon are price gouging while the NZ retailer is the only one actually cutting a deal?

Yes.

And wow .
