sbiddle:
LG have moved on from their days of being Lucky Goldstar. :)
I actually don't mind their OS and rate it above Android TV on the Sony.
is it able to play mkv files off my windows PC via wifi?
Bought the Sony KD55X8500E from Harvey N last week for $1820.
Now on sale for $1588. Going back to HN today for a refund of the difference.
Very happy with the purchase after moving away from an old dumb Samsung that was used only as a monitor.
Next move is to buy a HT receiver as I currently have the Yamaha RX473, but only if I need to be watching 4K content.
Are there any websites that you recommend to download a small sample 4K video for me to try out?
I have downloaded a small clip from Sony (sword master) and would like to try another.
cheers
You tube 4K channel has some good samples. (Both HDR and plain 4K)
Netflix has a HDR titles to look at as well if your TV supports that.
(Star Trek Discovery and Dare Devil S2 spring to mind)
thanks
sbiddle:An OLED is the only TV worth buying.. And the 55" B7 is under $3k everywhere.
Sony X8500E at record low from HN (seems like today only):
I see these ones are good arounders for reasonable price. For those who don't want to bear the risk of OLED burn-in or high cost of full array local dimming, these two models are worth considering in my opinion.

"March Madness" - yeah right. The 8500E was actually $1,556 beginning of Feb.
I'm waiting for the 9000E to drop back to near the $2188 it was on Christmas Eve last year...

Any good TVs that are part of this deal?
Random question: Does anyone know when deals are better when comparing thanksgiving and boxing day sales? Anyone working in the retail sector?
