can confirm Android TV does have Lightbox app available from the GP store

Really? It's not listed on the lightbox page. If anyone has the apk I'd be keen to try it on the Fire TV.

There is one in the GP store for the likes of a SonyTV - but for my Shield and MiBox I sideloaded it.

Without being biased as I've tried cheaper android boxes and own an Apple TV, I would definitely go ATV, its a better experience all round.

The only Android box I would consider is the nvidia shield.

The only Android box I would consider is the nvidia shield.

I also have a Shield - and I am still very happy with the MiBox as a far more economic option.

But I do agree that most other std Android OS based streamers are rubbish having tried 2 or 3 different ones. (Note: There we not AndroidTV OS based.)

I honestly don't see the problem. My cheap Android box works fine with most Android apps. The Android TV hardly works with anything. If you just want it for streaming, and you don't think that means Netflix, what is the big deal with it?

Lag, outdated OS, clunky UI, poor hardware.

Different strokes for different folks, I can't stand cheap android boxes, that's just me, been there and done that, never again.

I'm not a fan of Android TV built into my TV either, it's manageable and I can live with it but it's still laggy. Tizen on my KS8000 is more fluid and less clunky then Android TV is, it's just a pity the app selection isn't as broad.

We are on RBI and the quality of our connection varies a lot. We can't stream higher than 1080p and often have trouble even with that. We are already happy if we can just get SD without buffering. Lag isn't an issue then. The other things aren't really, either, since I mainly use Kodi and Chromecast. I agree with the clunkiness of Android TV, but again, I get around most of that with Kodi.

One thing to mention about the Apple TV 4 - it has a touch pad remote - some people hate/struggle with it.

It works for me, it works for my wife - but my in-laws really struggle with the remote. I've not yet unleashed the older remote on them to see if that helps yet.
