Yes I did.

BlackGold confirmed this tuner is compatiable with the New Zealand Freeview DVB-S frequency...

So I will be buying one...but at $300, it will have to wait another 2 weeks

as this week my shopping list priority is the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 CPU, Scythe Nina Mini CPU heatsink and the Samsung SH-S203D DVD drive, so that will set me back $600 odd.

Not a bad idea Regs...

At 21 pounds, roughly $50 NZ to ship 1 unit, yet the shipping stays the same for 2-3 units...there is a worthwhile saving to be made there...

Anyone else keen on this idea?
I am looking/willing to do this 2 weeks from now.

Well I rang DHL to see what courier charges would be to ship the pinnacle dual DVB-s card from Manchester to NZ and they quoted me $350 lol

Didnt stay on the phone long after that as they guy was clearly incompetent, and had also read a few things about problems with that card so am thinking I wont bother.

If I sell my HVR2200 and get a blackgold instead of keeping the hvr2200 and getting two additional nova-s cards I wont lose any money :)

Looks like I'll be getting one too

I would be interested in saving on shipping too if we can work out a simnple way to do it. Im in Auckland

The pinnacle card actually got pulled from the official site due to the problems found with the card, expereinced by those who purchased it...this is well known and discussed in many forums/reviews...so based on that, I would not recommend that card as too much of a risk/unknown.

Myself and I am sure others would be interested to know the outcome of that...
Currently no New Zealand retailer has anything like this available.

Yeah I read about that stuff just recently and thats why Ive decided to go with the blackgold (plus cant really be arsed with incompetent courier quotes).

The blackgold looks like the best solution all things considered and is certainly preferable over having 3 separate tuner cards to achieve the same thing

Hi guys,

I've contacted Black Gold to query availability and Linux compatibility of this card. As our store targets Linux and open source software users we only really stock products which are compatible with those systems.

I'll let you all know what we hear back from them.

PS. Regarding the DHL pricing earlier in the thread, I'm not overly surprised. We do a lot of International priority shipping for customers and that price doesn't sound too out of the ordinary.

Hi guys,

Has anyone actually taken delivery of the BlackGold card? If so, did you try it with GBPVR? I'd be very interested in feedback about compatibility with GBPVR - or indeed any PVR software.

[EDIT] Forget it. Just did a little more digging and the analog tuners don't have hardware encoders. I reckon I'll stck with my PVR-250 for Prime, and buy a TerraTec 2400i DT for dual DVB-T. Anyone got any comments on the 2400i DT ? ;)

I've just received a reply from Black Gold stating that their cards do not have Linux support at this time. Unfortunately this means that the card isn't really suitable for us to stock.

I am definitley getting this card but would have to wait for few months. Just started doing MCSE so have to use the $1400 for the 7 Microsoft exams. My new computer would be $1000 and this card should be $300. Have already started AGAIN to save up for the new computer and the card. Out of the Blue I decided to do MCSE.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Shame no one wanted to get together and buy the Blackgold BGT3540, so to save on the shipping as Regs suggested...

I have just taken the plunge, and shelled out $300 for this little beauty...to late to turn back now.
This is the final piece to my HTPC jigsaw...shes a beaut!

I will let you all know how she performs once I recieve and install her...sounds like it will take 2 weeks via Royal Air Mail.

I just came looking for this thread to see if someone still wanted to go in on shipping. I said earlier in this thread that I would be keen.... I have been away recently though so sorry for not getting back in time.

Not to worry, will be real interested to know how it goes for you. If all goes well, I will sell my HVR2200 and Nova-S which should almost cover it :)

Hey everyone,

I am definitely keen to get the BlackGold card as well. I have a mate here in NZ who has close connections in the UK, so we might be able to save on shipping if I can get a few of us to order together.

If I can get 3 or more of us to do it, I don't mind paying out for the order and everyone else can just pay me directly.

I've got a few spare Courier bags, too, so I don't mind shipping anywhere in NZ (I'm based in Taranaki) for free.
