CokemonZ:

that 55" phillips oled is now $2k https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/TVPHS880355/Philips-55OLED80375-55-Razor-Slim-4K-UHD-OLED-Andr

@CokemonZ - do you mean $3k? It shows up as $2998.99 when I click on the link, and that seems to have been their usual 'sale' price. Or is it $2k in their in-store sale?

First two results here.

One thing I couldn't help but notice is they list the refresh rate at 4k30. Has anyone seen anything to confirm or deny this?

I googled around, but there is a curious lack of detail around the native refresh rate.

Ahh, makes sense.

They also have the 65" Philips OLED for $3k.

Here's a link to a filtered of the sale - https://www.pbtech.co.nz/promotions/black-friday/filter/tv-av?fs=10375803

From the detailed specs

4 hdmi ports

hdmi 1/2 @ 4k x 60

hdmi 3/4  @ 4k x 30

No - haven't looked any further as while I really really want this my oven just died, so I get to buy one of those instead.

But I'd like somebody to buy one, tell me it's the deal of the century and then I'll just have to do it :)

Fair enough, with a wedding to pay for I know what that is like!

I'm pretty confident that it would at least have a 60hz native refresh, if not 120hz like that LG panel is capable of. My concern would be making sure that the chipset is at least capable of rendering to 4k60, as 4k30 is not great.

I think it will be a while before we see any 55" OLED from LG, Sony, Panasonic etc go that low, but I am wary of it since there aren't a great deal of reviews/specs out there though.

Thank you all for your helpful advice. I ending up buying the Pannie GZ1000U yesterday as it dropped to $2998.

It is an amazing panel, and I didn't realise how much gray I have been watching on my old LCD TV! It takes me back to watching my Pannie AE-7000 projector in a dark room.  This panel definitely benefits from a dark room with cinema picture settings, but in normal mode it holds its own in a lit room too.

My nvidia GTX960 video card is set to 3840 x  2160 at 60Hz (native), and I have just discovered the windows 10 HDR setting which brightens things up quite a bit. Have played a bit of Ghost recon breakpoint and it looks awesome!

Good choice, I can imagine it is night-and-day compared to an older LCD TV.

If I were buying an OLED right now, it would be between this or the LG C9 if the price gap was such a premium (currently >$600 over the Panasonic).
