Just back from the store and looked at all the options including going larger screen. The Panasonic GZ2000 is simply an amazing picture and he had a usb stick with music and its very very good there as well although you have to push louder than the Sony (ie used to about 30 and this was about 50 volume). The W9 would not fit the wall at home (large dual-sided gas fire sits inside the wall and below the tv). I also felt the picture on the Panny for me was better than the LG (yes know they make the panels). There is something about the LG processing I can spot motion artifacts (saw them 2 years ago when went to buy the Sony on a side by side in-store comparison). Back then the Panny 1000 was my second choice due to the acoustic panel on the Sony and the better upscaling.

Anyway, they have offered me the Panny (In-store at $9699), a chomecast ultra, delivery, and installation at a very very generous amount leaving me almost $1000 credit left can spend on anything I want. If I go for an extended warranty that plus more would get eaten up tho. Looking at my 2 Panny VT Plasma still going strong maybe I dont need it.

May be I'm unlucky but my LG OLED C8 failed 2 times during 6 months from the day of purchase and both cases are screen.

So I will think twice about LG these days. Their support is awful, polite and terrible, I contact them everyday and what I hear is "we will call you tomorrow", today is 2nd week.

I think that you will be very pleased with the GZ2000. It was advertised at $7194 last week at HN, but even that price is too rich for me. The GZ1000 will do fine thanks.

It will be interesting to see what deals are available on the GZ2000 in the BF or Boxing Day sales.

Anyway, congratulations. Sounds like HN have really come to the party for you.

Let us know what the sound is like from the TV when playing an Atmos movie.

Although, they never seem to have their full range listed on the website; I could never find the Sony x950g online when I knew it was being sold in store. And then they sporadically listed the LG B9 for a couple of months before removing it completely. I'm guessing it must be part of their anti-compete tactics, like you wrote about last year haha.

But if all of them are gone, then maybe they are completely divesting themselves of Sony. Weird decision, but ok.

Last time I looked, Noel Leeming and JB Hi Fi were still selling Sony TV’s. Smiths City haven’t sold Sony for along time

I heard they won't list products unless there's enough stock in the chain... makes sense, once stock levels fall below a certain levels the site will pull it, to stop disappointing customers. Too many websites simply list EVERYTHING they can get their hands on, yet when you turn up at their store they need to "order it in, sir". Many, many retailers (on-line and bricks 'n mortar) want to use their website to look bigger than they really are - it's one way they attempt to gain legitimacy in the eyes of the customer.

And yeah - Sony TV's are out of HN, but they still carry speakers / headphones etc.

Nice! I've been eyeing up what's available, as I want bigger than 65" however currently I have a LG OLED. I don't think I can go back to a LCD panel and the 77" OLED are crazy pricing.. also of the HDR options, I'd like to retain Dolby Vision..

I have now had the Panasonic TH-65GZ2000U two weeks. I miss Android TV tbh. While most apps are there no Disney, no Twitch and a couple of others means I am on the Chromecast a lot. The picture is all it was raved to be (as good as the Sony A1 for most things, better on the Dolby Vision etc). Sound I feed the acoustic panel has it over the Panny setup unless it is Dolby Atmos content which is very good. I should not have to turn the sound way up the way you do on the Panny tho.

Sony called me about the return/repair and had a great chat. Turns out the issue I had was a known rare one with Freeview/apps. Maybe mine is not the only one to go back. HN has been super good and I cannot complain but yeah does it feel the same wow as when I first got the Sony .... no.

Do I regret the return ... no. I still feel that no matter how much you love a product when it faults once so bad it is unusable, gets fixed (with tuner, panel and processor replaced) and the fault comes back you are now stuck with live with it or move on. I agree with most reviewers who say the 950 is where most should be. But hey I have a pro panel with no risk burn-in, better compatibility with latest top Dolby etc and a reference level picture. Just not sure why I dont feel I gained more than lost changing from a 2 year old tv.

It's a shame that it sounds more like a side-grade than anything, but as you said, it was the best option given the situation. I would get a Nvidia Shield (or ATV4k if you swing that way); for a few hundy extra, you get a first class streaming experience and it will out-live the support on your Panasonic OS probably by quite a bit.

It kinda seems poo-poos that that is standard advice after you just spend a great deal of your hard-earned pingers (well indirectly in this case), but the reality is "smart" features aren't what you are paying for in a TV these days.

Panasonic have the best HDR support. With Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HDR10 on board. LG don't support HDR10+. But the Jury is out as to whether there is much difference between them.

FWIW I just bought a Samsung Q90R 65" and I love it.

Decided on QLED over OLED due to wanting a better gaming mode, having a very bright lounge and some residual (and maybe unfounded) concerns over burn-in.

Huge upgrade over my 5 year old 50" Sony Bravia 1080p - happy man.

To add: Pleased with the app support as well. I almost don't need to use the ATV any more with Native Tizen Netlifx, Disney+, Plex, Amazon Prime etc all working perfectly
