Hi,

I have also just tried it and it only allows me to record two channels and watch a third.

It displays a message saying only two channels maybe recorded with the option to cancel one of the programmes currently recording.

Hrm strange, I tried it again last night and yes it didnt work

When it did work and three recordings showed it was when one was finishing and one was starting so maybe it records three if there is an overlap of one program starting and one finishing?

For billions of years since the outset of time, every single one of your ancestors survived, every single person on your Mum and Dads side, successfully looked after and passed onto you life.  What are the chances of that like?

I wonder if only some boxes have received the update?

If you were recording 2 programmes on 1 channel one after the other and another channel it is still only using 2 tuners to record.  Because of the overlap function it is writing the same stream from the one tuner twice (but still only using the one tuner).  In other words it is posible to have it showing as recording 4 programmes at once (from 2 channels).

The test is can you record 3 different channels at once and the answer is no.

I'm please patdude commented here.  I looked for the option of emailing the author of the article requesting the line "you can record three shows whilst watching a fourth." be corrected, I wonder whether this will happen now the author has worked it out or will the Herald continue with their often inaccurate and biased form of journalism???

Hi there. Tried recording 2 channels at once last night. not a problem. Tried a 3rd channel but no luck. Was watching rugby and recording programs for the kids and wife and accidently hit the live pause. Sure enough it paused, was able to rewind upto 1/2 hour as well. Maybe this is what they mean recording 3 channels.

It certainly is an error from my understanding of the box as well. Pat has obviously misunderstood what additional features the new firmware upgrade for the two additional tuners would offer.

With the original MySkyHDi firmware it only had two tuners active which meant you could record one show and watch another (live or recorded) or record two shows and play back a third. You could not watch live TV while recording two shows.

The new firmware upgrade enables for the four tuners and now allows you to record two shows and play back an existing recording or view live TV on the third tuner. It was never designed to allow recording of three channels at once and this has never been promoted as a feature - it has always only supported dual tuners for recording. The fourth tuner is reserved solely for PPV On Demand background downloads.

If you want to be able to record more than two channels at once then you'll have to move to Media Portal or GB-PVR! Smile
