TheBartender: OK, with help from Xcubed, I have got Mediaportal working and we did a scan, found services nd added channels etc...making progress...

But we are getting the following error in Mediaportal:
Unable to start timeshifting
Unable to start graph
Unknown error occured

Any ideas?

Have a search on here.. sure I have seen someone else post up that problem.

And a big thanks to Steve (sbiddle), who came round to my place and got it all running...
We ended up going with GB-PVR.

Now I have lots of playing to do, tinker with the preferences, settings skins etc etc

Persoanlly, no, I could not get going in VMC, which is a disapointment.

I also attempted MediaPortal with xcubed's help, and it found services and channels, but would not work...came back with errors 'unable to start timeshifting' and 'unable to start graph'...
But that said, I don't think I tried to hard to get it working, I'm sure the problem was either me or my system/program setup, rather than an issue with the card.

I will come back to VMC at a later stage and try again...maybe once Microsoft or Blackgold provide some software updates, or I am more expereinced with the TV tuner card and related software/drivers etc.

TV tuners are all new to me...hence the reason I overlooked what could be seen as some really easy and logical steps...

The issues with TheBarTender's MediaPortal install are probably just codec related. I'm still playing around with my MediaPortal install to get the client working reliably, although the server is working fine for DVB-S and DVB-T.

I didn't try either Media Portal or VMC - I fixed the audio problems which was a driver issue (both Nvidia and Realtek drivers were over a year old) and then installed GB-PVR since it's what I am familair with it.

The new version of GB-PVR that should be out soon has some cool new features.

Well, I have this going in mediaportal, showing all the dvb-t channels fine. I tried dvb-s in VMC with the downloads suggested on the blackgold site but no luck, it does a quick 10sec scan and "finds" nothing. I have yet to try the dvbsbridge method.

I couldnt get xmltvnz going though. Is this because I only have version 2.5 maybe?

Anyone else getting any joy/frustratement out of this card?

I finally got around to installing my card last night. I'm just using the 2 DVB-S tuners with VMC TV Pack. So far everything works fine.

Can't remember the exact setup but basically set the 2 HI LO settings at 10750 with the switch at 10800, set to Optus D1. No "signal" at that stage but after finishing went and did a manual transponder scan of each of the freeview transponders and everything is good. Now I have Sky and Freeview through the Nova S (via card reader, ProgDVB, DVBSBridge) and 2 extra DVB-S tuners for freeview. Guide seems to be filling better now since there is more than one tuner available to download data. I also have 3 analogue tuners if I really need them. May not be HD or DVB-T but for now I am happy.

Thought about MediaPortal or GBPVR but neither will work with my XBOX 360 as an extender so will stick with VMC for now.

Might try a "copy" of the Windows 7 pre-beta release if I get brave - anyone else had a go?

This is what Im trying to do. I thought there were problems with recordings and scheduling with tv pack, is this not an issue for you?

What are you using for an epg?

Cool, so freeview worked with the blackgold drivers and tv pack with no issues or other apps required?

Had to leave things overnight just to let it all settle down and I've only been running it for 24 hours but am very happy with it for now. Only SD but all digital and looking very nice.

So your using Blackgold driver version: 6.0.0.34 yes?
And your using the VMC TV pack (fiji)?

The VMC TV pack, I downloaded and attempted to install but my Vista system would not let me, as it said my system was already up-to-date....is there a specific update I should try/install?
Where is it found, and how do I install it?

Blackgold driver 6.0.0.35 from http://blackgold.fileburst.com/downloads/BGT3540_6.0.0.35_32bit.zip

I think you will need to reinstall Vista up to SP1 and then install the TV Pack (and other fixes associated - see The Green Button or comments on http://www.engadgethd.com/2008/08/06/hands-on-with-the-vista-media-center-tv-pack/2#comments for details) After that has been done you can install all the other Microsoft updates and I think you should be fine.

I will give it a try, but wasn't there an issue with the 6.0.0.35 version drivers? (reading the backgold support database)
Thats why they pulled it from the downloads and currently only offer the 6.0.0.34 version?
