Dont worry about sky UHF disappearing any time soon. But do worry about all the good stuff going to sky sport 2 to encourage people to move off it.

They will still let you keep it for a second decoder if you go digital, they need people on it still so they can keep using those frequancies.

Are you sure, last report I heard from Sky is that they have to look seriously at closing the UHF service as some of the transmitters are on borrowed time. In some region they have been doing cold calls on UHF subscribers to push them of the service simply because the UHF service is not capable of maintaining reliablity obligations. I think you will find there are more than one or two regions where there are no longer UHF subscribers for this reason.

That may be the case in the whopwhop areas, but I know that they are not keen on closing it in Auckland. Hell, they are broadcasting one of their channels FTA on analog just to be seen to be using it.

Thanks everyone for your help. I've taken the plunge and will be switching to dig zround Xmas time when a Xmas deal is on the cards. Sky have informed me that UHF will go next year. My new components taht I have purchased are not really suited to UHF anymore so whats the lesser of 2 evils.

I still only ever wanted SS1, and Sky One. I'm not a TV bug, and am happy with the current 7 channels that I have aside from when Sky switch sports between SS1 and SS2. Roll on some competion for SKY. Would'nt it be great to help drive the cost down.

I'm sure my Pano Proj will pump out a great pic since it will be running on complete component setup.

Are you refering to Juice TV or another channel?

Juice TV is FTA thanks to NZ On Air.
