I did back up a few, and I think only 1 or two failed. In any case, it is really only the drive speed functionality I'm after right now, so might have a look at Nero drive speed.

don't forget the region-free dvd playback - just make sure you set your default zone in the settings to 4.

freitasm: I've got an Intel 80GB SSD engineering test unit here and I am getting from read speeds of 150MB/s through 210MB/s on a SATA interface. Also the Windows Experience Index show this SSD as 7.8 (this is the component index, not the machine index)...

Can you run HDTune to check what you get?

Boy this took a while but never let it be said that I don't complete tasks !!!
Drive was 100 through 146 consistent wiuth HD tune, while it scored 5.9 on the windows index. I'm still a fan as I live with a family of female bats and they can hear a hard drive at 100 metres I'm sure. I have the 1.5TB drive only come on when I'm recording, it shuts down and I have a virtually silent machine. I've mounted the fans on rubber grommets and used some wrist-pad gel to isolate vibrations. Gives me lots of happy times !!

Ok I'm sold :-) it did quiet the drive, just seemed a bit chunky as I already have DVD Decrypter etc

ditch decrypter and do it all with AnyDVD, it's pretty much a one stop shop

I'm not so sure, I was backing up some titles in the weekend, and two of them ended up with no video, just a green blocky screen.

DVD Decrypter will not work for most later DVDs as it has not been supported by it author since '05. The author has since gone onto other projects.

You can use DVDFab (5) for ripping all (BD)DVDs. The other features will expire after trial but the ripping facility will remain functional.

Did you go with AnyDVD? I, too, was looking at procurement until I saw cost. Money mouth

I still use dvd decrypt, it has worked flawlessly for me over the years. It is rare for it to have an issue with a DVD, if it does, I just shrug my shoulders...

Looks like Mauricio is using Win7, the Vista WEI scores only go up to 5.9.

Correct. I installed Windows 7 on the HP Mininote when I had it with the SSD.
