BigRWellington: I'm in the same boat as you cranz. I am hoping there is something that I am missing from the process as I can't figure this one out.

A working now/next epg in Media Center would be great.

I wonder if the problem is that there has been a change between the preview version and the official beta. I note that freitasm had it working on the preview version on his laptop.

Freitasm, have you had a chance to update your laptop with the official beta? Just want to rule that out as being the issue.

I cannot get the now / next info either and I have applied the hotfix.

Interestingly, when I first installed W7 a couple of weeks ago , I did get limited info on TV6 before the MHEG crash kicked in. So somewhere an update/driver fix prior to the hotfix for mp3 has had an impact.

I am using the 'preview' copy.

Bob

Antzzz: (how do I insert URLs properly - must figure this out?!)

If using IE then it's automatic. If using other browsers you might have to select the text and click the Hyperlink button in the bar (assuming you have Javascript turned on and your profile is set to use the rich text editor).

I have updated my Media Center with the beta and I can't see the EPG. I am updating my laptop this weekend.

Based upon the progress so far on thegreenbutton and xpmediacenter forums I would suspect there will be a xmltv - > Windows 7 solution in the not too distant future. This will be the most likely solution for NZ users so it'll pay to keep an eye on what's happening.

Microsoft really do need to do something about MHEG5 - the reality is EIT based EPG's are now being made obsolete by MHEG5 based middleware. Aussie's Freeview launch now has meant a full 8 day EPG using MHEG5 which contains far more information than their old EIT based EPG. Freeview in the UK also uses MHEG5.

I don't think Microsoft really have an option but to develop full MHEG5 support or at the bare minimum develop their MHEG5 support far enough so it supports the extraction of MHEG5 EPG data to their own EPG database. One could argue there is no need to use the MHEG5 interactive features at present but this could become important in the future.
