Dude, I would go with the Samsung -only because I have NEVER heard anyone say anything bad about these drives.

I'd vote for WD Green. I haven't re-researched it, but was happy with the choice at the time. Now just waiting for the 2TB drive. Surprising how fast the FLAC back-up of the music collection, and a few hours of Freeview HD have filled it up

I'll save you the trouble :) the Samsung F1 1TB is slightly quieter and quite a bit faster than the WD Green, as the green is only 5400rpm.

Not quite "Only the 5400 RPM WD Green Power drives offer better acoustics, but with nowhere near the performance"

Hmm quite right, looked at the results again and the Green is 1 dBA @ 1m quieter.

stole a number of my work-related hand & cordless tools out of my work vehicle last night. So guess where my moneys going

No insurance?

Commercial tool insurance is a total waste of money. You pay around $700-$900 for an annual premium for about $10000 cover. Then, when you need to claim, the insurance industry will only pay out for market value, so you will end up with a major dollar shortfall for full replacement.

You minimise the chances of theft but can never totally count it out, especially...don't get me started
