RAE1: I noticed someone called me a "his" so I thought I better put a pink dress on. Are there no boy/girl settings on these profiles?

gumboot: I think one of the internet upgrades for the PS3 added the avi capability. So if you haven't connected to the internet since you bought it, this may be the problem.THANK YOU SO MUCH, THAT'S AWESOME!

I think there is an option for a remote download and install
The latest version 2.60 supports DivX
Cheers

I doubt it. Previous version was 2.53. DivX support was added back in 2.10, only DivX 3.11 support was added in 2.60. I don't download illegal TV shows, but if I did I would think that they would all work perfectly fine on my PS3, including the HD .mkv ones, after a simple remux.

Care to elaborate on the remux concept, and is this a quick process, or does it require the whole file to be re encoded?
Jaxson: Slight variation about avi files, anyone had any issues playing downloaded TV episodes on PS3? I got given 5 files last night: first greys, first lost, first 3 L word of latest series, so a good mix of files. All standard download .mpg or .avi, I can't remember which.
Played on computer no problems using win media player but PS3 either said they were corrupted or didn't even find/offer them when on a usb stick. found music on the usb stick, but no go with video, so in end none played via ps3. Will play on my philips hdd recorder when on blank cd/dvd.
How are others getting on with this?
Cheers.
