andrewcnz: Did you get back into the roof and eye ball exactly what is in there? What kind of splitter / combiner you got up there. Where does that dish wire go?
I got up into the roof this evening after work (donning overalls, gloves and hat - yucky spiderwebs), and discovered the following:
The VHF/UHF feed goes into a splitter, with three feeds coming out.
Two of the feeds go off to two of the three jack-points around the house. (I have three Belling Lee antenna jacks: 2 in the lounge and one in the bedroom)
The third feed goes into a prolink ANTSMIXM satellite & (UHF/VHF) diplexer, where it is combined with the feed from the satellite dish. The output goes to the third remaining antenna jack (in the lounge)
The combiner has a "Power Pass Satellite Output", so I'm assuming this means that the dish head power is isolated from the VHF/UHF side.
By chance, the jack into which I plugged the borrowed satellite box to test on Saturday is the one that receives the satellite feed, so I'm not sure why it didn't seem to work.
