As per my brother's email, it is NZ$ 125 in US ebay. I told him to buy it for me.
So I guess this is the end of my post, and with all the help of the geeks who replied, I believe I made the best choice. I wouldn't have been able to discover this headphone if not for your posts.
Thanks heaps for your help. On to my next project, which is buying a Blu-Ray player. Maybe have to check first if it is also cheaper in the States, but I will have to decide what make and model I like.

Hi Anto, just got your PM about this, figured i'd reply in the thread.

Honestly for $50 there's not really anything I can recommend in NZ. NZ's really expensive for headphones, and $50 is really budget category. Just head into JB Hi Fi or Dick Smith and try some out, make sure you try the cheaper Sennheisers. The recommendation of the 555s is good, if you can stretch to them. They're open headphones though, so they leak a little sound but no-one outside of your room would hear it.

Any recommendation I could make would probably be from about $200 up. You can check out my website if you want to read reviews.

Hi Tim. Thanks for your reply. I have this one sorted out. My brother bought a HD 555 for me off ebay in the States costing an equivalent of NZ$ 125. As you said, I had to stretch my budget. Cheers.

I would disagree about the 555's leaking a "little" sound - there was practically no change (maybr 3-4dB between them on a head and off a head when my ex flatmate had some. I could hear it outside the room when he was mowing down enemys in whatever game he played.

You're right, pretty much all the sound ends up in the room. If you can hear them in the next room they have them WAY too loud, and they need to turn them down before they damage their ears. Ears don't recover, and tinnitus is horrible - trust me on that.
