sbowness: I'll be getting the PS3 Slim as part of this purchase.

From my reading of the brochure the SR507 appears to decode the formats that I would need. Am I right?

Yes 507 seems to tick all boxes.  Looks similar to 576 but with HD decoding from 606.

If you get PS3 slim then you can opt to bitstream out and let receiver do the decoding, which is incredibly important because it lets you see the pretty HD audio symbol lights on the front of the receiver.....

Don't get too hung up on speaker brands. Focus on room acoustics and sensitivity rating. Your listening area plays the biggest part in the reproduction of sound. Choosing speakers should be based on how much sound absorbing and reflecting furniture & walls you have in your room.
