Hello again,

New TV is going great guns (anyone else have one? Care to share feedback?) I don't know if anyone else uses the bundled software to share your movies, etc with the TV, but I have been playing with it and find it works reasonably well, for the most part.

The software is called "Samsung PC Share Manager".

I've tried updating/refreshing the database so the built-in file manager on the TV can see all the movies and I can play them. Normally this works fine, once it's setup (which took a while). However when I did it today it sits on updating, then eventually it says "Server stopped abnormally. Please restart Server." - this is after a Microsoft C++ error. I've done this numerous times today, and this buggy, POS software keeps coming back with the above error. Rebooting changes nothing, as does closing/reopening the software.

This has worked fine for a month (and I've updated in between as well) - it's just today it's deciding to be a jerk. Googling reveals very little about this error - but I can't be the only person in the world with this error, surely??

What OS / computer are you using?
Is it over Wifi or have you plugged Ethernet in the back?

Personally, I'd try something other than Samsung's own software, and instead use a well tried 3rd party app. Personally, I use TwonkyMedia Server for my Mac, I've also used the PS3 media server for my PS3.

Sorry forgot to add that part - Windows XP SP3, going over wifi (using a Samsung wifi adapter, which seems to work quite well). I've just tried un-sharing and re-sharing the folder, then refreshing the database. It's taking ages, but it seems to be working so far, and at least it hasn't crashed - touchwood.

Okay, I think I've fixed it - basically, I removed the shared directory, re-added it, refreshed the database, and it looks like it's working as it should. The software is still a buggy POS tho.

Hello :)

I've got to say this is a great TV. Anyone else got one yet?

The media sharing thing isn't too bad, although it would be nice to have an option to fast forward through videos more easily.

Only thing left to do is setup internet access on the TV. The media sharing works fine over wireless, but I can't figure out how to set up internet access (eg, to watch Youtube) over the TV. The manual tells me next to nothing, and Googling hasn't revealed anything helpful.

Anyone able to give me a step-by-step walkthrough? Or am I easier just to purchase an HDMI cable and connect my laptop to the TV that way?

I have just bought a Samsung Smart TV too and love it. I have set it up wirelessly and have DLNA running through my Router with content coming from my Android phone and a USB hard drive plugged into the router.
Internet is easy to use although its a bit clunky using the remote to type in a URL. Navigation of a page is also a challenge with you having the choice of the the pointer or TABing through the page. Once you get used to it, its ok and really quite a cool demonstration of technology.
I have been unable to really use on demand TV (TVNZ) with any real success, not sure why as watching the content through my laptop is good so would expect the same from the TV.

If you are going to use the TV as a browser, would definitely recommend downloading the Samsung Remote for Android. It lets you use the keyboard for typing url's or searches which is FAR FAR easier than using the remote.

In general, i have been really impressed with my TV, and think the picture quality of the LED over the LCD is far better. Also, having spent several hours standing in front of the different brands of LED's, I think Samsung is the current leader in picture quality.

Android? I don't have an Android phone. I guess I just really want to know how to setup the viewing of the web on the TV, wirelessly.

Ooops - just saw you have a UA40C6200...
It doesn't have a web browser as such, or web apps from memory...
It's a DLNA client though - something you've already discovered.

If you want to access the web on your TV, you'll have to plug in a laptop / desktop first.

Thanks for that. The manual alludes to "internet access" from the TV, but doesn't give any detail about how to set it up. Looks like I'll need to purchase an HDMI cable and do it that way. Cheers anyway :)
