Unfortunately Rusty, Oscam crapped out on me again last night. Got a "no Tuner Available" error when my HTPC went to record a Sky channel last night. Luckily we were watching something at the time so I was able to close down the Oscam window and re-start it again. Otherwise I might have been in trouble...

Error in Oscam was "not found error" when it was trying to read the ECMs off the card - just like last time. Unfortunately I did not have time to look at the Oscam webpage to see what was going on in there...

Under Windows the version I posted up performs pretty well.

I built myself a card reader, but didn't really bother with it properly.

The card lives in my Dreambox, and serves a single Windows PC.

From time to time, I've had huge issues with regular drop outs, but it seems to have stopped for now. I don't know what, if anything, I did to fix it.

OSCAM was running on the Dreambox. I found it worked, but was no better than NewCS.

The problem is that when I notice that Oscam has gone south, it always seems to be when it is trying to record the Kardashians, Guilliana and Bill etc. I have little time to correct the problem let alone look at the Oscam webif...

Next time it happens I will try to screenshot everything in the webif and send it off to you. Other than this issue, I concur that it is the best solution we've had so far. No glitches to speak of since the switch over.

Oh and I've been meaning to look at my entitlement dates too given the 15/16th of the month has rolled around. I'll have a look tonight. Encouraging news though...

Just to add to the discussion, I've also been experiencing no tuner available issues, but I've assumed them to be DVBViewer/Link issues...mainly because I get the same error whether I'm trying to view a freeview or sky channel. Also, if I go and stop the DVBLink service, and load up the individual DVBViewer instances, they usually show the videos etc fine.

Furthermore, I was having issues getting it to run two channels at the same time without getting the no tuner error etc, so yesterday I was going to play with TVSource. But then it worked perfectly all day, regardless what I did with it. At about 6pm the computer froze (something that happens periodically since installing DVBLink)...restarted...no more problems yesterday. Turned on the TV this morning, and I got no tuner available for any channel I tried. So I went thru to the comp, stopped the DVBLink service, opened the two DVBViewer instance, got them playing video, restarted the DVBLink service, and it was all working again in WMC.

So I dont know how the software works, but is it possible DVBLink allows its connection with DVBViewer to "sleep" so to speak, and after its been down too long it isn't reconnecting to them properly?

So far the Oscam deals been working beautifully, with 200-300ms times. The only issue I have with it
(probably more the card reader?) is anytime I stick the skycard in, I have to disconnect and reconnect the power to the reader. Otherwise I get the "error activating card" thing.

Just got the error again Rusty, but managed to pry my better half away from the HTPC long enough to take some screenshots of the Webif. Will email them to you for analysis!

Thats the DVBLink famous "no tuner" issue. There's a dll you need to replace, and you need to turn off background EPG scan.

Its got the DLL you need, and a bit of the background.

The power/reader issue is normal, not much you can do about it, once you get it working I can't imagine your card will be moving too much anyway...

Got you email thanks mate. Problem occurred again when I got home tonight, but again no time to troubleshoot unfortunately... Problem is that I only ever notice the issue when Sky needs to be watched...

Oh and my entitlement dates have moved like yours. A good sign I hope...

Well I worked out what my issues were with my Oscam setup, and fixed it in two easy steps:

1. I blew up the power supply in my HTPC
2. Replaced the power supply with a new functioning one

It seems that the power supply in my HTPC was buggered, and was fluctuating the power to my Jaycar reader. When ever this occurred, I lost my Sky feed. My power supply ended up blowing up late last week, so I had to replace it of course. Ever since, my Sky feed has been 100%. Sweet.

Hi guys.

Having run the old NewCS setup in NZ for a while, I am now in the process of setting up in Dubai. The Sat decoder box here is a Showbox DVR 3100S using Iredto encryption (DVB-S only at thgis stage but they are upgrading to some HD services in the next month or so). Any idea if this will work with Iredto? I think the Jaycar card will need to be set at 6mhz but apart from that it should be ok? Any hints with the config files? It will probably be a few weeks before I get the time to sort it properly but am just doing my "homework" at this stage!

Mattv - there's nothing too NDS specific in the config, so I can't see why it won't work...

I'd just give it a try. I think the only thing you'll need to change will be the provider id reference's which are currently 096a - obviously being Sky NZ.

I've found the Oscam setup pretty succesful, and I'm actually running DVBLink TVSource. My system is freezing intermittently though. I can't figure out any pattern and can't work out how to fix it. It usually occurs when two channels are recording at the same time, but can be 20 mins into the recording.

I also lose signal (I have to restart the computer, not just the DVBLink Server) if I try to connect with a second mediacenter extender (infact, usually when I stop watching on the second extender is when the signal dies).

Has anyone experienced this? I'm going to email DVBLink and see if they can give me any ideas.

Sounds like bugs in TVSource.

It still does alot of strange things...

If you want stability then DVBLink for DVBViewer is still a safe bet. It doesn't do some of the nice new stuff but it just works. Plus the channel changes are much much faster than TVSource.

Hmmm. The reason I actually decided to try TVSource was because I kept getting computer freezes with DVBViewer. Pretty much the same problems actually. So I eventually formatted and started again with TVSource, which seemed to be more successful at getting two channels going at the same time (DVBViewer seemed to lose the connection. I changed .dlls etc, but was stiill happening).
