Series 6 Samsung LCD, Its the best 32" TV on market at the mo, Followed close by the LG 32LD560.

Find a store with them set up correctly with the same source and decide for yourself, the Samsungs will appear slightly brighter than the the others but the backlight can be ajusted as needed.

Talking about the nitty gritty features and speed is pointless, look at them for yourself together make up your own mind. Never believe a salespersons word (Unless you trust them) always get them to SHOW you the differences they are speaking of, if they can't show you.......MUPPET ALARM! get out of store quick!

LED is a waste of time unless you want a slim TV for wall mounting, cost of running should never factor in decision of buying a TV nowdays*. (*Unless using solar to power it)

If you buy a Konka you deserve what you get. If you buy from DSE you deserve what you get. ;)

Power draw or cost to run should always be a consideration. It is something not many people think about. I not saying it is the most important but still worth considering

True.

Bolly, the series 6 32" is around 1200 bucks while the series 5 is around 800 bucks. the major difference I could see was that the refresh rate on the series 6 is 100Hz whereas on the series 5 its 50Hz. im going to be just ps3 gaming on the tv. is the refresh rate worth the extra 400-500 bucks?

Series 6 is a nice set, no doubt! But if your main source is ps3 then the 5 series should be fine. You wo't want 100Hz for gaming. Game mode usually turns it off anyhow

And the power savings on led would take few years to pay for themselves.

sweet cheers man. one more thing. should i go for hd ready or full hd? some people told me that i wont notice a difference on a tv as small as 32" and as you know, most ps3 games are not 1080p yet. but if you recommend that full hd is better, i will go for it. thanks

If price is good then sure, you're after a bargain then a series 4 Samsung might suit you. The diff between the two resolutions will be visible if you are close. Check out the two panels in your local store, get an idea of your distance. Its worth getting a console or other hd source to check

My $0.10.
The only reason to look at the Samsung Series 5 is for its USB playback...
But as you have a PS3, I think you'd be better off utilising that for your media playback.
While the KDL32EX500 offers 100Hz, you'll find that a lot of TV's actually revert to 50Hz when you put them into game mode (it helps keep the lag down) - so it's not going to give you much of an advantage over the KDL32EX400...
As the only difference when gaming will be a panel that can swivel on the pedestal, and a brushed metal strip at the bottom.
That's it.

So yeah, the KDL32EX400 would be my pick.

Additional thing since people is bring up gamemode on Samsung series 6'...

Samsung "gamemode" can really make the picture worse even though it reduces lag. A lot of the colour processing is skipped... e.g.

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/35031-samsung-ln55c650-120hz-lcd-hdtv-review-9.html
(btw, anyone know how to make this link clickable?)

Lag wise, I've only played Batman and Forza3 on xbox360 on my cousins 40" Series 6 "revision C" ... and it was fine. Even without gamemode. However I've yet to play more "twitchy" games on it. e.g. shooters, SFIV..etc..

All that said... if youre happy with whichever experience in store, go for it.

thanks for all your help guys. I ended up buying the samsung LA32C530. it is ofcourse 32", full HD, usb, 50Hz and it is one of the fastest tvs on the market today, having an input lag of 16ms even without game mode. obviously it will be lower with game mode.

since i will be using it exclusively for gaming, the input lag was the major factor in deciding which tv to buy. the sony bravias have atleast twice the amount of input lag. as for the refresh rate, im barely going to watch sports/movies on the tv, so it shouldnt make a big difference.

for an indepth review, go here. (le32c530 is uk version, la32c530 is asian/oceania version and in the questions, the reviewer says that only difference is the scart being replaced by an extra component connection. no differences in performance)
http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/samsung-le32c530-le40c530-20100813815.htm

got it from dick smith online. $747 with free shipping. offer was ending today, so decided to go for it. retails at a grand

so yeh, thanks again for all your help. i'll post again on this thread, about my experience with the tv, in a few weeks.

:D
