by the way 80% of the time I use the home theatre by myself, wife is too busy doing her stuff.

If the wave cancellation/amplification is obvious, I will tilt the speaker at an angle...

As above, why not just buy a centre speaker?! Why put your receiver through a 3 ohm load (which it probably will not like at all) or a 12 ohm load? Your signature shows a lot of expensive nice gear so what's the sudden interest to do something half assed?

his receiver will handle it just fine.

the auto tune detects decibels of certain frequency levels, NOT current going through the speaker ie it measures loudness (and delay) so it will be just fine.

just from my experience one good centre speaker is superior to two - i don't know why (apart from geeks at avsforum shooting me down with "inteference"). maybe my room, rack, speaker positioning, carpets, ceiling, windows, walls, picture frames, paintings, couches, doors, coffee table, magazines were not 100% symmetrical and i got reflected waves at all directions which did funny things

Yeah get that, was meaning the load on the receiver, especially at 3 ohms.

If it works for you then cool. I too am all for finding what works for you so no arguments here on that approach.

illicit: I get the physics side of it, but I'm not sure the majority of people would be able to hear the difference, I could well be wrong as I have not tried it myself.

I would have thought the benefit of a center channel 'image' centered on the TV screen would out weigh the rest

A lotof people cant hear the problems with lossy codecs, doesn't stop them being insanely popular. Lots of people dont seem to have a problem with the crap mastering coming out on every pop release making it sound worse than radio, doesnt stop that happening.

Just because the majority are happy with something doesnt make it not bad.

I have hooked up the speakers last night (in series) and did an auto setup with the receiver.

the result is this

Front Left -2.5dB
Front Right -2.5dB
Cen, +4.5dB

It sounded so much better compared to my previous temporary central speaker Jamo E6, I didnt believe different brand of speaker would make such a difference.

I have finished the setup.

the result is better than I expected. maybe the tweeter is very close? (50mm-60mm)

I was able to adjust the angle of the speaker, so its slightly tilted up.

ohhhh, I thought you were putting one speaker each side of the TV to get a centralized image on the screen - you basically just have one large center speaker

illicit - yes, I did thought about that, thats more like "presence" speaker setup option with Yamah receiver, ie, 2 speakers on each side at front of the room. and one central speaker.

I am yet to try the presence speaker setup, but it feels like they only add on the home theatre effects.

Try one speaker each side of the screen - you'll need a couple of wee stands to get them sitting midway up the screen though.

Let me know how it sounds if you do it
