jbard:
So you can choose the quality to watch it in?

I heard a ballpark figure of 1gig an hour?

That'd be about right. it will automatically choose based on connection, but you can force it in 720 if you're keen. that seems to bump it up to about 10Gb/hour tho. We find auto quality is perfectly acceptable - about the same as FTA TV. Most audio is only stereo tho, so not great for action movies IMO

I was using StrongVPN and found it definitely impacted my performance much more that I would have liked. I have been testing Netflix with USVideo.org however it seems to forget that I'm using the service and stops working. I wonder if anyone else has had issues with this.

Thnaks for all the info guys. I managed to setup a trial for both USVideo.org and Netflix. Works perfectly.

Can someone tell me how USVideo.org charge you for their service? Do they give you a user specific DNS? One that is different for everyone, so that they can track you/allow you that way? If so that means the trial DNS must be unique as well?

@Paulspain have you tried doing this? Is you IP dynamic?
The only limitation of dynamic IP's is that you'll need to visit http://check.usvideo.org/ every time it changes.

Well unfortunately Netflix on the ATV2 has stopped working. The message says "You cannot watch this movie from your location...." (not exact wording but close enough). However when I do the check on USVideo.org it says I'm all good to go and I can actually watch a Netflix movie on my iPhone via the same network/router. I'm using a Lynksys routher with the DNS entries. Something weird is going on it was working perfectly :(

While the DNS option is interesting, I'd say it's more prone to errors... The VPN on the other hand (SSL, OpenVPN, etc) will all add more delays and roundtrips than desirable.

I emailed USVideo.org with my Netflix problem and this was their reply:

"No, there is nothing you can do... Netflix changed the way they check geo location yesterday. We have got it fixed this morning. Everything is running ok now."

They did indeed fix it, worked perfectly last night Cool

Also notice that changing the DNS from your ISP to anything else WILL impact on how your network/device access sites that rely on CDNs, such as Apple, Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, Xero, etc...

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Exactly, which is why it's recommended to change on a per-device basis not on a router basis.  If I want to use Netflix or any other Geolocked service on my laptop I use a separate network location that I can just switch to and switch back from when I want to do normal everyday stuff.
