Theophany's (Theophanies?) will be thirstier than the Wharfdale's you're looking at. What amp are you running?
They're a very different sounding speaker, for my money a lot better. But you'll need to be careful what amp you run them with. Picking your own colour in a NZ made speaker is kinda special though, so if you can go with Theophany - do it!

I saw the Theophany in store and the styling is not really my cup of tea.

I'm using a sony STR-DA1200ES at the moment but will likely upgrade this later - may even look at adding a power amp for the fronts.

geekiegeek: Part of my problem is that I need to use my available finance with GE - hence going through Harvey Norman.

I'd at least look at the same speaker via Paul Money.  You could either then take that quote to Harvey Norman or get a loan from somewhere else.  Thing is even with interest on a different loan you'd probably end up winning over 12 months buying from Paul Money.

As above, I'm not connected with them, just another satisfied customer who has paid significantly less than Harvey Norman for each purchase through Paul Money over the years.

The will freight for you. I'm in Palmerston and they sent direct to me and fairly cheaply too.

Over to you obviously, just a suggestion. Paul Money and North Shore Autosoundz are worth a phone call.

If you do go Harvey Norman then please get a sale/deal etc. (In my experience) They really are expensive.

Well after all that I didnt go with the Wharfedales.

Seems that they are no longer brought in to NZ as a new modal is due sue. Harvey Norman offered me the store pair of Opus 2-2s but they were just way to big for my room.

While there yesterday I heard some really nice B&W CM9s and decided I just had to have them. Fantastic clarity with a great mid section and tight bass.

I also picked up the CM 1 rears and a CM Center 2 center speaker - this is a beast of a center at 600mm wide but should look great under the projector screen.

Should have it all tomorrow with a roll of new speaker wire to run under the house.

Ha ha Joker97, I think I'll wait for the wife to get over the $7000 I spent on these puppies before I start looking at an upgrade :-)

Nice purchase.

There are Wharfedale Evo 2 40's on Trademe at the moment, in Rosewood for $1399. I know - I was considering them to match with my Evo 2 centre I bought last year. That said, we only have a small room at the moment, and my Castle Trent II's aren't doing a bad job at all (with a sub of course).

As mentioned, Paul Money and Autosounz on the North Shore also have the Evo 2's in stock, but I have almost been convinced that the Opus range are a worthy upgrade from the various reviews I've read (and having not auditioned 'em myself).
