An old V20 would be a go but just be aware motion processor is only working with HD content were as the new ST has full time processing!
Which assumes you even want or like the effect of motion processing (I personally don't).
I picked up a P42V20Z for $1450 last week (last one in stock at 100% Heathcote) and they threw in the last floor stock model of the Panasonic DMP-BD85 Blu-ray player for $299. Very please with both items, especially the BD player, since my old receiver needed 7.1 analog out from the BD player in order for me to hear the (great) HD sound formats.
Yes, there is a subtle buzz, but nothing noticeable when watching films. The picture is great, and I've got it hooked up to my PC - using a decent transcoding media server (serviio) I no longer have the need / urge to set up an HTPC, since it is playing all my digital media files and movies.
Recommended. That said, I'm sure the 2011 models are also nice - although we only have the ST30 here at the moment, I don't think the VT30 has been released in Australasia yet. It's got the Infinite Black Pro engine (instead of just the Infinite Black engine), and may have resolved the infamous floating and rising black levels of 2009 and 2010 models (not that it's affected me - yet). And possibly less buzz... who knows.
