Anyone know if these cheap dickies power meters are any good?? I'm curious to get a more accurate figure now.

I believe they are good. Someone said a while back to check it is a 3 battery version. They are supposed to have a proper metering chip.

I just have two powerstrips running off different powerpoints.

One is the "must run" collection of devices used for scheduled recordings, and with clocks etc that I don't want to have to reset. It stays on 24/7 so I get all my scheduled recordings etc. Currently it has my STB, DVD recorder, and VCR (yes, I still have one!), and heating (computer on the gas heater, not an electric heater).

The other is switched on when I want it, and has the Amplifier, TV, DVD player, wireless AV sender, WD TV media player etc. Switched off when I am done.

That's as far as I want to go. Further economy would, IMHO, not be worth the hassle.

I do the same thing Jimmy. The only thing that stays on is my router/wap, but if I had a cable box that would probably be plugged in too as they take so long to boot.
