You need some sort of database that has the Blu-ray titles, how many copies, who has the copies at the time, who is the next in line etc etc...

Also, what happens when a Blu-ray disc gets lost or stolen? Either in the hands of the person that has it at the time or in the post?

lchiu7: I looked in my shelves and was reminded of how discs I have bought and are still in shrink wrap! There must be at least forty!

So why do you buy them? Personally I've never understood why people have huge DVD/Blu-ray collections as I'm pretty sure they don't actually watch them more then once. Streaming is where its at, all the movies you love on demand without having to store them all somewhere at home plus cheaper then buying shiny disks.

Sorry, off topic I know.

For some, it is the tactile experience of picking up something physical, the sensory experience you get as part of the movie watching event, for others, like yourself, its more about the movie experience itself, regardless of how it is delivered.

Personally, I find browsing a computer screen, looking at titles (whether in text or picture) a pain in the arse, I can more happily browse something in my hands, but YMMV

My home collection is meagre, ofcourse, if I hadn't bought a DVD shop, then it would probably be a bit bigger than it is now, but with 15000odd DVDs and 1000plus blu-rays I can watch when I want at the shop, but before buying a vid store, when I was a DINK (Double Income No Kids) i was a buy type of person, when that turned into SITKOM (Single Income Two Kids Oppressive Mortgage) that ofcourse changed and rental was the way to go.

I totally get people who are either (ofcourse, where my store is, I hope that there are more renters than buyers, but thats just me)

I will watch them one day - perhaps when I am retired and have nothing else to do :-)  At the moment life gets in the way. Also many were purchased when Amazon and others had these multiple title deals.
