Yeah the first point of call gets to tell the player what formats it can handle.  If that first point of call is a TV you're usually limited to stereo only, so the order is quite important and not always obvious to all.

I just bought a Toshiba BDX1200ky today, so I don't know if my situation applies with you Rmodel - but the manual is pretty opague IMHO.

Anyway, under the audio output menu, the factory setting  on my player was PCM? There are two other values you might want to look at. Bitstream ... No processing, and re-encode, auto select output based on audio stream on the disk. P22 of your manual discusses the same settings

The Onkyo spec stateS it supports 3d video passthru, so why can't you go through the onkyo to your TV.
