reven: raspbmc is adding PVR support, which is awesome.
and the developer of raspbmc uses for the record and is in talks about including the 4tr addon in the raspbmc pvr release.

currently im using xbian though, but raspbmc is talking big (once again) saying the next release will be faster than xbian (not sure if i believe this, raspbmc developer seems to defend it way too strongly, both have their strengths but xbian is a lot faster atm).

freitasm: Just a heads up, I saw on /. this week the USB drivers are buggy and causing problems - even on networking since the adapter is connected via USB as well. Anyone noticed this?
lchiu7: I have been following this and the other thread with interest given how low cost the Raspberry Pi is.
It seems it's getting close to prime time as a media streamer.
The two areas that were unresolved for me were
- IR remote control. It appears that XBMC (the Pi version) support the MCE remote and I have one of those lying around with the sensor. It can be emulated by the Harmony remote which would be what I would want
- bitstreaming HD Audio. That is less clear. I dont' really care if the device can or cannot decode HD Audio (Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD Master) which I suspec would require a licence, so long as it is able to extract that audio from a media file (MKV, ts or m2ts) and pass the bitstream over HDMI where an external AVR can decode it. Lots of Googling has not revealed anything definitive on that yet.
But for $40 or so, it's worth a punt just for a hobby exercise.

lchiu7: Cool. Then I am getting one and it will be a weekend project.
Out of interest where are folks buying them from?
Element14 has them for $48.26+GST but is there anywhere better?
