The Onkyo 2-channel amps should be just fine, the home theatre receivers seem to be the ones that have had the issues. Make sure you get your KEF's on some good stands and get them working well with the room and you should be sweet.

There used to be issues with Onkyo AV receivers and overheating... that was a few years ago now.... things are okay now.

To be honest I would have been quite happy to buy one of their home theatre receivers if that had been what I was in the market for. I don't doubt that some people have had bad experiences, but ultimately Onkyo is a premium audio manufacturer and can't afford to let quality deficiencies linger for too long.
