No. Extremely unlikely there will be a physical medium for 4K - likely to be digitally delivered only.

I'd beg to differ...
New DRM isn't too far around the corner, and odds on it will be a tough one to crack.
If they can make the DRM work, then content creators / distributors will make a physical disc and it will be a success. Without the DRM, content providers will walk away from the idea, meaning we won't see progress and high resolution as the norm will remain a pipe dream.
Watch this if you have time... the first part isn't necessarily related, but there are some nuggets of info in there.

Speaking as a consumer, I am very resistant to purchasing digital download movies with DRM. Especially when DRM prevents me from playing the files on whatever devices I choose, lending, reselling, etc, basically trapping the content on a platform (e.g. Xbox Video, iTunes, etc). I imagine there are many, many people like me who prefer disc-based content.

There's also something neat about having the cover in your hands, whether it's a movie, a CD, or when I was a kid, record album covers. If 4k is DRM download-only, then at this stage I can't see myself being all that keen (if and when I have some 4k gear).

given the glacial movement to hd by local broadcasters we may never see large scale uhd content in godzone.

4K content will not be coming over the airwaves, it will be coming via the net. The UFB is well underway and in 5 years time 100M+ speeds will be pretty common. Netflix is rumoured to launch here next year and they already have 4K content. YouTube also has 4K content. It will happen.

This is all very good, but rather ambitious and misses the points that 4k / UHDTV was supposed to deliver more than just "increased resolution".
Uncompressed 4k/48 12 bit video uses about 2 GB/s bandwidth.
So of course you can drop the framerate, drop the colour bit depth, but you still end up with >500 MB/s.
The video compression ratio has to be very high - and there's no free lunch.
And Netflix are delivering 4k @ 15 Mb/s??? 'tis surely a joke.

I have never purchased DRM'ed digital downloads, and never plan to. The idea of spending a lot of money to "own" something, when I can lose it all whenever they shut down the authentication servers or the hardware it's tied to breaks etc, is just anathema to me. If they want my money, they will have to treat me better than that.

Honestly, the way they treat customers, sometimes I wonder why I insist on paying for stuff legally(*) when the pirates seem to get a better (same quality, no DRM) product for free. Sigh.

* And, for the record, I regard bypassing geoblocking on Netflix, and transferring Sky recordings of product I have paid for access to onto other devices etc, as fair enough.
