When you say your Android app are you talking about the Sonos app? That sounds like it could be fine for what my mate wants. From reading the reviews people were saying the Spotify integration was rubbish, you obviously find it sweet? I don't think he will end up with any locally stored music, just streaming via Spotify and other online radio stations.

Yeah that is how I understood it, playing Spotify thru the Sonos app allows multiple streams to different devices, but this isn't possible using Spotify connect on non-Sonos devices. As long as that Spotify integration is ok it sounds like the way to go.

Thanks for your feedback on this!

Controlling everything using the official android Sonos App version 5.3.1.

Only issue I have found it that its important that all the components/speakers/bridge are running the same version of the firmware (5.2)

And when I first set it up a couple of years ago with one speaker/bridge via W7 the ethernet driver was confused my the virtual machine ethernet driver on my PC so it couldnt see the bridge so I deactivated the VM first. That was a once off issue though

A.

(Best to check with other posters here in case I am just "lucky" but I have no complaints at all.)

I just bought my stuff from JBHiFi and bought another speaker each year for another room.
Maybe if you go though a specialist store you can get them to setup several speakers at once and have a play to check it does everything you want, just to be safe/check friends happy.
You wouldnt want them to spend the cash then find out they not happy - DEFINITELY not worth the mental drama there..
