I've now set my parents up with two of the Veon TV's   Both 42" from memory.

My impressions are that they're bloody good for the price.  Includes the likes of glass stands and UI that doesn't look like 1990's computers.


Two things count against them for me, and your importance may differ:

1) No discrete IR codes provided for input selection, which means you have to cycle through the inputs to select the one you want.  This makes universal remote integration flaky, as the remote never really knows for sure what input the TV is currently on, and it can't instruct it to switch to a specific input in one move.

1-b) The warehouse doesn't want to know about this, and they've got a very limited only presence, so it's not like you can ask anyone actually in the know easily either.

2) The sound from the inbuilt speakers is sht.  No nice way to put this.  This ins't actually a Veon specific issue, more a trend in general, but just watch if you are 'upgrading' your parents set as you'll need some form of external sound, either a home theatre etc, or pay extra for the sound bar that they used to give you on the body itself...  Nice work for an upsell for them, but worth mentioning.  The move to thin surround bezels has meant speakers are moved to the rear and frankly they don't sound very good.

Apart from that, and the perceived shame of a Veon label on the front, I think they're not too bad, especially for the price.
The 50" was $399 online today for example.
