CEC didn't work for me possibly because I go through a HDMI hub etc.

So I bought one of these

The IR was pretty weak but I just learnt the commands with a Harmony remote and all is well. It does the basic things you want a Kodi setup to do which cursor up/down/left/right, Enter, back etc. The mouse even works on the original remote but that is not used much in Kodi (or Plex). Happy with this.

I need a small, discrete USB IR receiver for my R.Pi2 running Kodi in my lounge. Is something like this the kind of thing I need? It looks like it receives IR, sends it via USB to the R.Pi, and also re-sends it via IR as a repeater. Seems too cheap...

My son loves to grab this in one I current have in the TV cabinet. I use a Harmony remote so just need the receiver.

Just FYI, I have one of those extenders you linked. They only extend the ir signal so you can hide stuff away in a cabinet etc. The USB is only for power so it won’t work on a Pi or similar.

@timmmay Maybe a long shot but would you sell your old HP receiver? I need to get one for my setup.

Probably wouldn't sell, useful backup. They're cheap on eBay, they just take a few weeks to arrive. Might be on Trademe, will cost more and shipping inside NZ costs more than shipping to NZ.

I have the Flirc but can't work out how to get it working, and haven't had the time to spend on it yet due to a sick baby.
