I live in a large apartment building with dozens of lounge windows opening onto a courtyard.

 

Occasionally the TV spontaneously switches on e.g. at night while I'm asleep or during the day when the apartment is locked. I've attributed this to 'stray' IR remote control signals from another apartment.

 

My solution is to turn the AV equipment off at the wall when I'm out or asleep. 

 

If I had a NAS it would be plugged into the same power strip.

So I deleted ES File explorer and replaced it with X-plore as suggested by @Rikkitic.  That stopped ES Filer Explorer opening at start-up.  The Storage and Reset page only opens once when I power up which is acceptable.

 

I also replaced Kodi with SPMC, which looks nicer and works well streaming content off the USB stick.
