Those who had their hdi installed today, what was the whether like? Rainy, windy? did the technician go on the roof?

I have heard from other sources that the dual simese cable is not ready nor the new LNBs, all current HD transmissions are off D1 as D3 is still in a hanger in Virginia and slated for launch in early 2009. So at this point there is no need for LNB or cabling upgrade, however from next month all HDi installs and all visited subscribers will be upgraded to a new LNB and 2 or 3 outputs leads.

Weather was fine and the install didn't leave my living room. Was here for all of about 25 mins.

So far hard to tell if there is much difference. Missed Home and Away which is in HD.

Only thing I have noticed is that it seems to be a bit slow in responding when rewinding. Also seems to change channels a bit faster.

Further to my notes earlier...

Even though they're not transmitting any HD source on Sky Sport 1 and 2 they do look considerably better. The Tour de France looks decent, though it's not up to true HD standard.

Sky Movies 1 and Sky Movies Greats look very average -- but I think know why. Even though the program guide listing details indicate "HD", the Info-bar indicates the source is not HD, so something is up there and probably accounts for the poor quality on movies -- it is better than the old SD feed, but it's no where near the quality TV3 is transmitting on Freeview HD. Note that even non-HD channels (like Sky Movies 2) lists HD in the program details -- very poor of Sky.

We'll have to reserve overall judgement until Sky transmit some true HD material on these HD channels.

Can someone confirm:
Sky Sport are already broadcasting in true HD? (where available)
Is TV3 the SD or HD feed?

I had my HDi installed today
Some of the SD channels I can't get out of the pillarbox aspect ratio - I have changed the settings under picture setup for SD content but it doesnt seem to have made any effect

Anyone have any ideas?

Caught some of the Warriors replay after work and it was a definite step up over the SD feed on Sunday
Also Spider Man 3 on Movies looked reall good in my opinion

Guess the big test for a lot of us wil be the All Blacks game this Saturday

Just checking the lattest Skywatch and less than 50% of SS1 is HD, all the live important stuff is, but only a portion of replayed stuff. As for movies, tomorrow/friday, only 6 movies between SM1 and SMG are HD, rest are SD. Thats, Blades of Glory, Flight93, Knockedup, Consprircy Theory, Edward Scissorhands, Behind Eneny Lines, so not a full evening of HD at all.

Sky Sport 1/2 is 1080i.
So is TV3.

FWIW my TV is only offering 2 of the usual 4 aspect options when connected via HDMI - 16:9 Full and 16:9 Zoom modes.
Try changing the SD aspect option to let the MySky box control it. Also make sure to turn on widescreen signalling (page 60 in the manual). You may need to lock your tv to 16:9 full screen.

Ah, yes. Just figured that out... Just because the synopsis says HD at the end of the text doesn't necessarily mean it is. Look for a blue HD logo on the right side of the bar in the i-box (page 9/10 of manual). Casino Royale was pretty good this morning on SM1.

It mentions some cooling/hard disk noise. The quietness of the original MySKy box impressed me.

My HDi unit won't arrive until 13/08. Any comments please from those of you who have had theirs installed on noise pollution.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

Its slightly noisier than MySky. I have it in my living room in a closed TV cabinet and I cannot notice it. I only noticed it during installation as the cabinet was open.

If your planning to have your MySky HDi in your bedroom and your TV cabinet is open, it may be a problem.

Having said that, I have MySky in my bedroom and it took me only one night to get used to it as its on a open TV cabinet. My partner didn't even notice. MySky appears to be slightly louder when its recording because of it writing data on the HDD. I think its the same for the HDi.

I've just had mysky hd installed.

I think I've been misled a lot by their customer services.

They said, that for $10 a month I would receive sky movies 1, sky movies great , and the sky sports in HD.

But, now, I find out, that you also need to subscribe to packages that contain those channels too.

$10 / month only gives you the ability to access HD on select channels that you already pay for.

I'm pissed off now, the CSR miscommunicated the details to me.

SO, to get the full hd lot, you have to subscribe to HD, sky sports, and sky movies. Blahh!

HDD wiritng noise doesn't bother me but certainly from other appliances, once I become conscious of the fan noise it bugs me. My current setup is open-plan and pretty damn ugly so could be a good trigger to invest in a nice cabinet.
