I don't mind spending on this type of technology, but I am struggling to justify $375 over the 2017 version I already have.

Naw, the selling points seem to be buy this over the old one or other streaming boxes really than upgrading. Which hopefully means they will try and price closer to the ATV4K...

On the other hand, its nice to see an Android based device that is still going strong after 4-5 years and getting full fat updates. Guess that is one of the benefits of Nvidia going with in-house chips, even if there hasn't been a whole heap of innovation.

Don't know how reliable it is, but this piece mentioned "Availability in Australia and New Zealand will follow on in the coming months".

I'm tempted to say that'd be next year at the earliest, depending on stock uptake in other markets.

Hi guys & gals

I have just received from Amazon shipped to myself in New Zealand my first Nvidia shield tv pro 2019.

Now my only issue I am having is Netflix everything else is fine, So I can login to Netflix bring our profiles shows titles we can watch even shows a preview of the show you're hovering over however when I got to play something I get the below error message

tvq-pb-103 Netflix cannot play this title instantly at the moment please try another title.

But does the same thing with everything we try to play.

So I have done the usual cleared cache, cleared data, forces stop, uninstalled reinstalled, unplugged the shield from power overnight and nothing has worked.

Jist wondering if anyone else has had this issue or knows what to do to fix this problem.

I'd appreciate any help I can get.

Thanking you all

I had this for another device for about 4 hours last week, was resolved the next time I tried to use it.

Try again later perhaps?

 the remote is beyond rubbish.

I got one of these when they were on special for $10, its bigger than the stock remote, works well though.. you can have it setup with either bluetooth or use a wireless dongle for it.

I like that it has a power button on it, you can actually turn your shield off / put it to sleep when youre done without having to go via the settings menu

Has air mouse if thats your thing too, it works but I dont like it.

takes 2x AAA batteries and has a mic if you use voice search

The dongle I got with mine is a lot smaller than the one thats shown in the picture of that link.. mines like a tiny little nub

Thanks for the link to the replacement remote. My kids have misplaced the remote countless of times, sometimes weeks on end.

Problem fixed! There was a system update once that was done Netflix was all good to go!

I have the old version. And I bought the new pro one when it was released, from Amazon. It's working properly without any problem. Using plex (just client), netflix and youtube most of the time. Now it supports Dobly Vison and Dobly Atmos. I'm happy with the new version (I can use the old one with my monitor now :P ).

Does it use a more generic power cable now or does it at least come with a NZ compatible shim for the AC adapter?

Why not get some convert adapters from amazon at the same time? It’s much cheaper there.

ShinyChrome: Looks like we can get it direct from Amazon if local retailers drag their heels. Works out to be about $375 NZD shipped though, ...

Still better than local. 🤑

That's ridiculous; I would say guys' dreaming, but as Bullet-tooth Tony once said, "never underestimate the predictability of stupidity".

Searching on TM, it's just as bad from supposedly trustworthy retailers as well. Compare PlayTech's TM listing to their website listing for the previous gen Shield. TM might have a few deals on s/h goods if you look hard enough, but you are asking to get bent over if you want to buy anything new. Obviously there are no shortage of muppets there who are eager to part with their money though.

Since it seems like NZ retailers are in no hurry to get it and other people have had no issues with theirs, I might just have to pay the overseas tax to get it.

Comes with the standard US moulded plug. An old school adapter will be needed. If you don't use Netflix you'll also want to rebind the obnoxiously large Netflix button on the remote.

Would something like this work with the Shield TV Tube? Would like to try avoid a bulky plug adaptor for a US to NZ plug.

It will not work for the Shield.

Add this into your cart if you buy the Shield from Amazon. $6.99 for 6 pack.
