01EG: LG OLED screens are rubbish, already 2 dead screens for last 6 months

I think that is just an example of how hard it is to manufacture these screens. They are certainly getting better every year, but still a long way to go before they hit LCD maturity.

Unfortunately since they are the only choice, its either get an LG OLED panel or don't get an OLED.

To add: Pleased with the app support as well. I almost don't need to use the ATV any more with Native Tizen Netlifx, Disney+, Plex, Amazon Prime etc all working perfectly

Do they have history of breaking them then? I am sure between the TV and ATV I will always be able to run what I want!

The problem with the Panasonic is the wireless performance.

Not so much breaking them, as support over it's lifetime. TVs age much faster than devices like the Shield or ATV. Your TV probably has a couple of years of enjoying new apps, security updates etc, but as I would expect the hardware to last 5-10 years all going well, beyond that, streaming services will come and go and Samsung will have forgotten all about it.

On the other hand, while the Shield has been more or less the same hardware since it launched, bar the new Pro, it has gone through 4 versions of Android TV, whereas most prop. OSes will be live and die on the same version. Same for the ATV. And since the new Shield has more or less the same hardware, I would reasonably expect another 5 years worth of constant updates, new apps etc. Not to mention all generations have access to the same apps, whereas you will be lucky if the OEM back-ports newer apps to older TVs.

I'll also bet a 2015 TV feels a lot worse to use than a first gen Shield.

The other big thing is how much data your TV is probably collecting. I'm not saying that the ATV or Shield aren't, but it will be a lot more transparent than your TV.
