I have a Chromecast and a UHD Chromecast - both can (and are) hardwired when setup.

Yet I have simply stopped using them and rely solely on Airplay instead.

They just need to spend more time on C/Cast...

What I found was to successfully reset the CCu, you cannot leave any existing devices turned on, weird. Its as though I turn the phone off but it sees that tablet so it wont go back to factory.

I use to have lots of issues with my Chromecast when it was powered by the TV's USB port. TV would be on ages and chromecast icon would not be available in youtube or other apps, I would have to disable/re-enable wifi on my phone to get my phone to see the Chromecast. Other times it would work flawlessly. Sometime rediscover the CC in the google home app. Sometimes I would even have to power off the TV and power it on again.

Not sure if this is a problem for anybody else but since moving the Chromecast onto its own wall powerd socket (2 Amps) it works much better and I rarely have any issues.

To add to the above it also makes more sense if the Chromecast is powered independently and not from the TV.

So now even if the TV is switched off, other devices can see the Chromecast and can start casting. When this happens the TV switches on.

I have Mibox s and bought this to play movies from my external hard drive because my TCL tv updated from android 7 to 8 and unable to play movies from drive after this, and playing movies on Mibox s was working fine so relieved to have this working and able to play movies just worked perfectly also having Kodi available was a bonus.Then Mibox s updated from android 8 to android 9 pie and now can't play any movies as doesn't recognize 3tb ntfs drive anymore and chromecast also broken plus not able to connect bluetooth headphones any more just continously says connecting and does nothing so at the moment i just have useless Mibox s until they get updated. Checking google searches and forums no solutions and have done 3 factory reset with no changes so would not recommend Mibox until fixed.

Are they? I don't think any of the Android 9 updates from Android 8 have been OTA? I could be wrong. I thought that as there were not official stable versions yet customers that wanted Android 9 needed to to a manual update by using a recovery mode option and applying updates via a SD card? Thats very different to a company putting beta products on your hardware.

I have seen many people stating that they don't see the upgrade option to Android 9 in the GUI. Perhaps thats because its not officially being rolled out?

Oh well. In the meantime I will keep using my faultless MiBox S daily. Not a single issue here - ever.

I was on android 8 and message kept on coming up on home screen to update to version 9 from what i can recall and don't remember any time seeing beta version, with this info which i dismissed i think 3 times then clicked on update button by mistake and so much trouble just a waste of time so probably best thing my wife did was throwing in rubbish.Update was automatically done via internet or OTA(not sure which) but no need to do manual update or sd card to do update.Also i was very reluctant to do update seeing comments online saying not good to update and also no way of downgrading and somebody had method to downgrade which was just crazy to do by taking box apart and short circuiting part on board and metal frame with tweezers together and plug it in just seemed like bad thing to do.

At least you guys get the option to upgrade. I have a Minix Neo-UH9 and they haven't released an official firmware for years (& have said that they wont). I'm still on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1. A couple of independent developers have created an Android 7 nougat rom, but eh, Marshmallow 6 still does the job. I only run Core-elec 9.2.2 through a micro-sd card anyway.

From what I've read on GZ, Mi Box S seems to work flawlessly for the majority, but when it goes wrong ... it's pretty bad. As a $100 NZ streaming device, it seems to be a good risk to take.

The only problem I have EVER had with Chromecast is with YouTube. One minute the cast icon is there the next it is gone. You do not dare leave the Youtube app to multitask on the same iDevice whilst casting or you will loose the cast icon even though it is still casting. Sometimes you have to shut the app down entirely, sometimes you have to reboot the iDevice, sometimes you have to take the iDevice out of Google Home app, sometimes you have to reboot Chromecast. No other casting app gives me trouble other than the Youtube app. I only use the app because of the keyboard search typing functionality, otherwise I just use my smart TV/PVR Youtube app.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.
