I wasn't aware of any issue with the .35 driver but thanks for the heads up. I've had no problem so far but will keep it in mind.

As far as the guide goes all 6 programs I set to record last night seem to have worked fine. I'll keep my fingers crossed...

Right, well I got VMC working with tv pack and the blackgold drivers. Full satellite scan found nothibng but manual transponder scan found all freeview channels.

I was getting a guide (OTA I assume) for some channels (tvnz ones) but not others, anyone know why? Is the the channel numbers I assigned them or something?

After a restart, I lost all channels except channel 1...... Will try again from scratch tonight.

Noob question, but should I have satellite cables going into both inputs or just the one? I got it working when I had a single sat cable going into input 2.

Should I split my satellite signal 3 ways? 1 for sky stb, one for each pc sat input or what?

I think it possibly takes a little while for everything to settle down and download all the data. I was having a few problems straight after I set everything up. I stopped live TV, left it on the main start page overnight and the next morning everything was fine.

Yes, I am pretty sure you need both. (I do anyway)

I have mine split 4 ways. Not ideal but have not had any problems yet. I have just short runs (15cm or so) of RG6 from the splitter.

Right...

Sky is fine but freeview on vmc is blocky and really poor signal. Sometimes its fine but it often experiences signal problems similar to when sky gets rain fade. Its not really usable like this. Any ideas?

Im using a 3 way splitter with 2 cables going into the card and one into sky stb. The splitter has the power going through one of the outputs. Im putting this output into sky cos the stb doesnt seem to like it when I dont. Should I get a splitter that passes the power through all 3 or something?

There is nothing installed on the htpc except Nvidia drivers, blackgold drivers, tv pack & ffdshow.

I'm pretty much a noob at this stuff too but you may want to check a few different things. Firstly what happens if you record 3 different things at once, ie 2 freeview sat channels and a sky one? Are both freeview ones blocky? Are recodings just the same as live tv? Have you double checked the cable connections at the back and the fitting of the card in the PCI-x slot? What happens if you change the cables around? What driver are you using for the Blackgold card?

That's about all I can suggest to check for now. You may be better starting a new discussion in order to get more people looking at it.

The card is slotted in properly, I tried swapping some cables around too but no luck. The plugs are in the back properly, although Im kinda annoye that they aren't screw in F-type plugs. The fit isnt as tight as I would like....

Havnt tried recording multiple at once, will try tonoight. I guess I should probably also try it in mediaportal to see if the prob is replicated... Im using the blackgold driver that it suggests to use for TV pack (6.0.0.34 )

Will do some more tinkering tonight ajd if no joy, will start a new thread in the freeview forum

Just some info for BGT3540 owners...the driver has been updated...

The new version for Vista 32bit is: 6.0.0.38
The new version for Vista 64bit is: 6.0.0.39

To what I read, the difference is 6.0.0.34 had issues with the second DVB-S tuner not receiving a signal at certain frequencies. 6.0.0.35 attempted to fix this issue but had untoward side effects that caused even more problems.
From what I understand 6.0.0.38 (64bit) and 6.0.0.39 (32bit) where complete rewrites of the driver code.

I got mine working properly with the older tv pack driver by selecting 10750 lnb instead of universal which I should have done all along....

Is anyone here using the s-video input for an stb? Thats my next task to start tomorrow

I got mine working with the latest TV Pack, but found I had to swap which satellite tuner input the cable was plugged into to be able to do the tuning, and then change it to the other, to be able to display the TV...

eg.
- Top satellite tuner input - only one that I could tune with
- Second satellite tuner input - only one that would display the output (TV pitcure & sound)
And when I split the signal, I had to do the following to make it work:
- The split output with the power pass, had to go to the second satellite input

So what I read and mentioned above sound exactly like the initial tuning problems I expereinced, as I was using those drivers.

I have updated, and everything seems fine so far, but as I have already set it up/done the tuning, I guess I wont seeany noticable improvement.
