nudge: Has anyone managed to get DVB-S and DVB-T working together. If I set both tuners it hangs when trying to save the TV settings. If I clode it and reopen it I am able to scan for Satelite channel, but it ignores the fact I have set the T card and I can not set any channels.

I can setup the T card on its own (or any other single car for that mater) but as soon as I select more that one card it hangs on the save screen.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

I thought there may be away of setting up the DVB-T channels and then changing the registry to make activate the scan satelite menu, but I'm not sure where to look.

Same problem here. I tried all combinations of DVBT, Analogue and Satellite but Sat only works by itself.

Have u managed to get analogue working with DVB-T as that would do me, although I would like to get the satelite going for no other reason than the guide. DVB-T only bradcast current program plus one or maybe two.

What about xmltv, has anyone dabbled with that?

Analogue and Digital worked ok but untill we get XMLTV importing we need sat for the guide.

are you saying that windows 7 + freeview terrestrial (Hauppauge Nova T 500) would work (bar the fact it could be buggy and the guide is no go yet)?

for those of you that have spent the time, is it worth giving it a go?

would getting something like XMLTV going be similar in principal to VMC?

The EPG format changed with the introduction of VMC Tvpack - I'm not aware of any tools yet to convert XMLTV -> the new TVPack EPG format which is also used in Windows 7.

And forget about trying to use Windows 7 on a day to day basis with DVB-T in NZ. It is simply nowhere near stable enough and suffers from the same issues as the VMC TVPack (+hacks).

Although one would expect the commercial release of Windows 7 will be (relatively) stable...here's hoping Microsoft will actually provide the guide officially with Windows 7 Media Centre...

I see people are saying that DVB-T should work by itself. I almost have it working OK with my HVR400 card. Tuning works fine, sound fine and it changes to all freview channels OK.

The problem is hardware acceleration isn't being used on my 8500GT card (I guess). Thus I get a very jerky picture. Getting nearly 100% CPU most of the time.

It worked previously with XP and CoreAVR decoders etc. Do I need to load other software to get a cyberlink decoder that will enable hardware acceleration?

Windows7 has it's own H.264 codec so the answer is no.

Remember it is only a beta and it is very buggy..

I see others mentioning that they have hardware acceleration working fine. So I was thinking I needed to switch something on or off. Perhaps I need to load particualr Nvidia drivers?

waldoverkill: You can fix the blanking screen by disableing MHEG plugin under (i think) setup-general-program library ooptions-edit program library-mhegaddin

Hi All,

For the record, I have given it a go with Windows 7 and H264 support does work! but, as all the others say, its unuseable.. i thought I would have to give it a go to see just how 'unuseable' it was.. but it was bad, you cant really change channels with out unexpected results and decoder errors,.. found all the channels though..

good to see the support is coming though, will be awesome to have freeview HD on media centre.. now we've just got to wait.. and someone needs to sus how to get the NZ guide in too :)

Hi Y'all,

Apologies if this is off-topic or has already been answered.
I have yet to try W7 so I'm hoping you know the answer.

Is the H.264 codec in W7 something MS licensed from a 3rd party or did they write it themselves?
Is it both encoder and decoder?
And is it DirectShow compatible? I mean, if I write a DirectShow application can I use the native H.264 codec to playback my media content? Or is there some kind of DRM or licensing restriction which will prevent me from doing so?

Cheers for that, all working fine now. Has been surprisingly usable, can watch all DVB-t tv channels fine, watch AVI/DIVX etc, guide works ok. as long as I dont do too much too quick it doesnt seem to crash/get those decoder errors.
