It actually looks ok.

If you can't send it back, and are willing/sad enough to sell for equivalent aliexpress price I'll take it off your hands :)

*chuckle* thanks for the cheeky offer.  I don't mind them at all.

The return request has been sent in already, along with photos and a very polite 'it looks to me like your specs are BS'.  If they refund me and say 'just keep it', I'll let you know.

They made me return a $30 "smart" watch, don't think they'll let you keep a projector ;)

Just like cameras you're talking issues with dynamic range when you go cheap.  You can't be that bright without your blacks light levels being light grey as well.

Rather depends on the intended use though.  If it's to project ghost or christmas images on your net curtains at night then they could be ok.

I see Kogan has a ‘3000 lumen’ (YR) 720p portable projector they’re selling for $179 at the moment (with free shipping) - https://www.kogan.com/nz/buy/kogan-3000-lumens-hd-wi-fi-mini-projector-m500/

My user case is far less critical than the OP’s - kinda keen on a cheap/budget projector for using outside, on holiday etc; has anyone experience with this model or similar?

My preference had been for a pocket/pico projector as per this earlier thread (https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=34&topicid=255836) - the key advantages being the small size and the ability to run off battery power (not so concerned about resolution, but looking for 720 at least) - so also interested in hearing of any recent experience people may have in budget models.

What got me (re)interested in this was seeing a 720 rechargeable projector on 1day - no mention of brightness, and I’m sure it’s crud, but has anyone got experience with this model?
