Can anyone help with channel mapping, for examlpe in EPG Importer GUI i have

Mapped Channel     Channel Number     Channel Name
10302                        249                         BBC1 N West

how would i map this to channel 1 in Windows 7 Media Center.

It's probably quite simple but i'm new to all this and it seems if i mess with either the Mapped Channels,Channel Number or Channel name sections the import to media center fails.
Thanks in advance.

One more question:In windows media center edit channel listings it shows -EPG IMPORTER, is there a way to change this to say -DVB-T and DVB-S2 for the different xmltv files captured from satelite and terestrial.

@cue1boy:  The channels numbers and names that you configure in the configuration program need to map to channels in your xmltv source. Once you have imported your lineups into media center, you should be able to reorder them there. Now that you mention it, I might lock this down in the UI in future if it causes too much confusion.

Currently, there is no way to append a different name to the end of the imported lineup depending on the source. I will take it as a feature request though.

Hi everyone,

I just want to let everyone know that the EPG importer program has graduated to its own website and has been renamed GuideHound EPG.

The website is available here: http://www.tvguidehound.com

From now on this will be the primary download location for updates, etc.

I have also released a new version (0.9.10) which hopefully fixes the issue when no network connectivity is available. Please give it a whirl and let me know.

Thanks,
Andrew Jackson

I see that BSE has it's own options when using EPGCollector with Windows 7 MC. Think this deals with series and episode numbers, can EPG Importer (Guidehound) manage this or will it be a future development?

Hi Andrew

Nice program, much simpler and more user friendly than BSE I find.  Being able to colour code shows from keywords is a really great feature.  Can these be expanded with extra colours for comedy, drama etc?

Also, new(ish) channels C42 and TV33 do not contain an "- EPG Importer" format listing when I am trying to assign channels.  Not sure what's up there, the data is in the xml file.

It doesn't seem like your program checks for the HD tags for shows?  They no longer show up in the guide when I am pretty sure I had it running when using BSE.

Cheers

Chris

Hi Andrew, my tv3 and c4 have stopped working within the last week or so. Before i start troubleshooting I just wanted to check that tv3 hadn't caught up with Andrew and made him stop?

Just a couple of things I noticed when I tried:
I installed the latest guideHound version and set it up to use the FreeviewToXML util posted by another user and it worked great.  Altho I had to perform these steps
andrewderekjackson:
Here are the steps to follow to get imported guide lineups to show in media center. You have probably already completed up to step 2 so start off at step 3.

1. In media center (7MC), go through the standard TV setup wizard. You can set your postal code to 0000 to get you past that wizard screen but the end result is the same. After doing this, you should be able to go to the guide and see your channels listed (they will probably say "No data" or something like that but your should be able to at least see the channels.
2. Run Win7 EPG Importer program to get your guide data into 7MC. At the end it should of the import you should see a "Importing into Media Center" message with no errors.
3. In 7MC, navigate to "settings -> TV -> Guide -> Edit Channels"
4. Click on a channel and select "Edit Listing"
5. You should be able to see the imported listing (Should be in the format "Channel Name - EPG Importer"
6. Select the correct listing to assign to the selected channel.
7. Repeat steps 4 - 6 until all the channels you care about are mapped.
8. Back out to the main menu saving your changes on each screen.

Could they be included in the install somewhere?  It was just luck that I stumbled across them.

Two things I have noticed:
When I import the guide data it removed all my scheduled programs (will there's no red dot next to them in the guide, altho they are still listed in Scheduled Recordings)
The program Icoms do not show in the guide, they do when imported with BSE

Otherwise, a fantastic program, and if it keeps working the next few days, I'll sign up myself and sister ;)

Thanks for all your hard work!
Excellent

Now all I need is someone to create a good wtv file compressor and ad remover to NZFreeview ;)

@doolz: the guy over at http://www.mcebuddy.com/WhatsNew.aspx is working on a program to remux WTV files. Currently it doesn's support AAC or AC3 I don't think, but it's a start, and will hopefully be able to remux NZ recordings soon.

Hi Guys... I went away on holiday for a bit so thats why I've been a bit quiet on the forums.

If your channels have stopped working, its more likely your xml source which is no longer providing the data. This has happened to me in the past and will probably happen again - especially with screen scraped sources. (The source might have changed or, possibly, they have been asked to stop providing the information). I suggest you try switching to EPG Collector if you can or find another source.

I have posted answers to some of the other questions on the wiki page: https://andrewjackson.fogbugz.com/default.asp?W2

@doolz: Thanks for your comment. I've just added a "Getting Started" section on the website. I have a question for you: What do you mean when you say that program icons do not show in the guide? Do you mean channel icons? If so, have a look at the wiki above. If not, please contact me at support@tvguidehound.com so that we can work through these issues.

Thanks,
Andrew
