Ah, real? I have a TBS 6980 Dual DVB-S2 tuner...I've actually had trouble with that too...I have to power the satellite through a single power pass splitter, as the power supplied by the card seems to be incompatible with my sky LNB. Which means no switching between ver. and hor. polarity.
What is happening is to do with the power pass splitter.
TVSource turns off the tuners when they're not in use. This means that if its the tuner thats on the "power pass" side of the splitter, it will drop power to the splitter. This will in effect kill all the other tuners.
With TVSource you need to use a all ports "power pass" splitter.
If your using DVBLink for DVBViewer the first tuner ie DVBViewer1 needs to be on the power pass port. DVBLink for DVBViewer doesn't power down the tuners when not it use, and therefore as it should keep the other tuners active.
Neither will work with H/V switching, unless you use the right gear. You'll need a dual polarity LNB, and a LNB switch (diseqc) which works with TVSource.
True...lame. Well thanks for that info then! I'm gona have to try sort something else out then. Neither of the tuners actually pass the power. My sky STB provides power...its the only way I can get the tuners to find channels. I don't know why, and despite much trying, TBS haven't been able to help.
What cards are most of you guys using? I couldn't find much choice when it came to DVB-S2.
So I got a new card...Tevii S470. So far so good on the freezing etc, but same problem with the power! So now I'm properly stumped. As is two groups of tech support. Is there anyone around here that might be able to shed some light?
Basically, if I connect any one of the 3 tuners I've tried now (2 on one card, one on another) directly to my dish, I get no signal. Scanning for channels returns nothing, and shows no signal (like, as if its not even connected to a dish). This is true in Media Center, DVBViewer and DVBDream, and across a complete format. It is true on an any of the four LNBs in the quad LNB I currently have, and was true before they upgraded it from the dual LNB previously installed. If I check the power coming out of the card, or out of the cable at the LNB, its ~20V.
OK. But there is a way I've found that allows me to get almost all the sky channels on my PC, through any software. That is by connecting my sky STB to the same LNB as my tuner through a single port power pass splitter. If the STB is connected to the single powerpass port, my tuner gets full signal and can scan and find almost all the available channels. Because it can't switch satellite bands I can't get a few channels (sky movies 2, ESPN, etc). But otherwise, it works perfectly. Long term though, this isn't a solution, as it gets messy when you have multiple tuners, and as you point out, I think contributes to my freezing problems. Plus, its annoying having channels missing.
If anyone has any idea, or knows someone I could ask, the help would be really appreciated. Everthing else is working beautifully well.
hi, for those who not following oscam svn, there is support for few week now. so just download latest svn binary or compile self. should work for 096a only. for 0969 still work in progress but i think a bit ot so i start new topic.
Rusty, thanks for your info.... I think I've followed most of it.
I'm using W7 media centre and have managed to scan the satilite picking up all the Sky and Freeview channels. Freeview channels play fine, the sky ones come up saying the signal is scrambled (as you'd expect). Both the Freeview and Sky channels appear to be populating the Guide no problem.
I've followed your instructions and installed Oscam. I have an Infinity USB unlimited, which when I enter the Virtual Com Port mode, Oscam appears to find no problem and appears to read my Sky card when I insert it.
But when I go back to W7 media centre, the sky channels are still scrambled :-(
I have downloaded acamd, but don't know what to do with it! The instructions mentioned copying the files to a 'pluggins' directory.... What Pluggin directory?
Can someone help me get the last part of my puzzle (the unscrambling of Sky) working.
Cheers Graeme
PS: One other thing. I tried to: You can view the console using http://127.0.0.1:16000 in any old browser. This just came up wanting a user Id and password. What User Id/password is it looking for?
I assume this means I need to download and install 'DVBViewer'?
I was hoping to use W7 Media centre as my 'viewer'. Does this mean I can't use W7 Media Centre as the viewer/user interface and need to use DVBViewer instead?
I've managed to get 'her who must be obeyed' using Media Centre.... retraining could be a dangeous exercise :-)
You do end up using MC7 as your viewer but you need to use something else as your initial tuner and decoder first. You then use a version of DVBLink to feed the streaml to MC7 as "soft tuners".
You can either use DVBViewer and the older version of DVB Link for DVBViewer, or possibly use the newer DVBLink TV Source (which does away with the need for DVBViewer and is what I used to use but it sounds as if Rusty's "old" setup may work better.) Have a look at this thread or do some more searching on this site for more info.
BTW I have had no luck with this yet. I have a unicable LNB here and can't seem to get the tuner set up properly. Anyone know if DVBViewer has Unicable support? I think I need a new DVB-S2 Tuner card or two but as the provider is going to Betacrypt (cards married to boxes) in the next few weeks it is all a bit hopeless for now anyway. If anyone here hears of a breakthrough that will get this scenario to work with Betacrypt please let me know.
I have everything setup and seems to be going great using TVSource/Oscam but am curious about the entitlement dates that are mentioned. I assume this means at some stage I may have to return the card to the decoder to get it to update? How do I check the date in Oscam? the only dates I've seen in the log are in the year 2015. Using Jaycar reader.
Get the current version and it will show the correct dates.
WARNING: Some of the new versions may cause some issues. Its the nature of the beast. If you have any issues just drop back to the last version that worked.
