Dont worry about the inputs. on a tv that small composite will be fine. Its really only on quality larger CRTs that you really notice it and you have been watching poor analog composite anyway so it will be miles better. The only people that have to worry about inputs are those on geriatric tvs in wooden cases with only RF in.

See if you can get a longer cable and move the antenna more. Hell, just put it in the spouting or something. I had bunnyears cabletied to the hotwater overflow at one place to get reception

I'm suddenly kicking myself for throwing away 2 meters of those RF cords just one week ago. gah!! happens every time I throw away something useless!

It would be extremely unlikely for a TV from the 2000s to be without composite. Personally, I wouldn't use composite on a TV if there is a better connector available. Alot of people would have depreciated S-video and RCA cables laying about, failing that they are very cheap.

The quality from a VHS player or any other box connected via any connector other than RF would be much better. Recent television equipment usually doesn't support the RF connector. Old RF-only TVs, usually only those more than 15-20 years old, typically require a RF-remodulator box to "go digital".

The other reason to query inputs is because a large number of late-model 29"-plus CRTs sold in NZ are actually HD televisions but as they are without HDMI/DVI they require special consideration for HDCP-cncumbered devices.
