I didn't know Handbrake had a preview, that'd be handy. Why's audio so difficult? I don't want to use tools and multiplex files to just create a video file.

My Onkyo does the pops and hisses thing too, with some audio formats. It should be able to decode them but doesn't seem to. I'll try with the R Pi some time though.

Cheers for the settings smbunn wow what a difference, I'm having sound issues as well, when I tried DTS-HD Passthru I didn't get any sound on my HTPC (I didn?t try it on the raspberry PI), I changed it back to AAC (faac) and xbmc is showing 2 channel audio. Looks like I need to find out what a (faac) is.

So, I have my Pi, and I have downloaded and installed RasbMC, and I'm running a nightly build (to get PVR and 4TR support).

I have this somewhat working, however if I play back a recording (or live TV) it spends more time buffering than playing.

How has everyone else got this working?

Mine practically never buffers. What kind of memory card are you using?

Mine is working fine playing 720p over wired LAN. Haven't tested any 1080p yet but I'm sure it'll be fine.

Where is your media stored and how do you connect to it?

Thanks for the replies - the SD card is a Samsung card, supplied by Element 14. FortheRecord is running on a Windows 7 machine, which is holding all the content etc. I believe this is accessed using a Windows share.

Have just upgraded to the new raspbmc build with the XMBC Frodo beta. Things we pretty smooth on on the RC5 nightly that had Frodo beta but this seems pretty slick as well.

Am trying the "Fast" overclocking setting and have enabled the 1080p GUI. Uses a lot more CPU but otherwise seems good. Probably overkill for a 40" telly but those with bigger TV's will appreciate this. (change these settings in the Raspbmc settings not the XBMC ones)

libcec is now working reliably out of the box so for basic functionality I control the Pi with the telly remote. Anything else I use the iOS XBMC remote app.

Definitely the best $50 I've spent in a long time!

Yep me too - upgraded to Raspbmc Beta 1 (I think it is) on two Pi's - one in the living room, one in the bedroom. Got em synced up to a MySql library on my home server (Ubuntu) as well. Even got the PVR side of things up and running against a TVHeadend server. Brilliant.

Impressive bit of kit for $50. I felt obliged to make a donation to Sam at Raspbmc since he is obviously doing a heck of a lot of work to get XBMC running so smoothly on the Pi.

Anyone want to buy a Logitech Revue - it is now redundant!

Just waiting for my PI to arrive!

Has anyone tried using their PI for anything else other than XBMC?
I'm thinking like home automation, Server, programming or robotic controller? This is the sort of things that set it apart from the android media centers out there.
Sorry if any of this is mention early on in the thread. Still working my way through it.

Also look forward to learn some wisdom and experience from you guys.
