cue1boy: SJB: Steve i don't know what the problem was yesterday , just done another scan today and everything is back to 7 days EPG , cheers anyway.Please let me know if you can think of any reason for it though.

If this happens again look in the log to see what type of collection it does - it's logged just after the 'signal locked' message.

It looks like it did an EIT collection - I believe Sky only broadcast 12 hours on EIT in the UK.

ncharlt: Hi, it's working now without any changes so my fault clearly (sorry for wasting anyone's time). However, I have come across a funny issue:

I use option 'usechannelid' and this works fine. However, if I try to set one channel number individually (e.g. Station:2,2056,3852,178 // ITV1 HD), all the others go back to their SID value, as if I had never used 'usechannelid' at all.

Any ideas?

Unfortunately you are right. It doesn't store the channel info it gets from the braodcast if you have supplied any Station parameters that rename a channel or renumber it.

I'll change it in the next release so that a Station parameter just overrides the channel to which it is referring and doesn't affect the use of USECHANNELID.

Incidentally, why do you need to change a single station's channel number?

Wonder if someone can help. I am in the UK trying to get Sky UK EPG using the tool but getting nowhere fast. The log file says it gets a signal lock but then it just sits there before returning with error code 6. AFAIK, the driver is BDA and is an DVB-S2 card if that is significant. Thanks for any help.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply re 'usechannelid'. I've copied the data from the log file and ran a macro in Excel to generate an exclusion list for all channels - I then just commented out the ones I want to use (there were neatly 1000). This gives me a relatively small XML file which is easy to work with.

To answer the question as to why I'd want to change just one channel number .....

When I select the channels I want as described above, o have to selecty regional version of , for example, BBC 1. The correct channel number on my HD box would be 101 bit due to all the regional versions,y required channel has a different number. Having the correct channel numbers in the XML is very useful, particularly in other programs like BSE (although I'm using DVBLink EPG at present).

I have to say this is brilliant software and DvBZlink works absolutely perfectly with it - I even get HD tags!

Thanks for the software and the support - it 's much appreciated.

Doesn't the Channel ini parameter give you just the channels for your region and number them correctly? That's what it's meant to do.

I'm using the drivers that I got with the Mystique Satix Dual S2 card. As you can see I am also using DVBLink. epgcollector /tuners shows the physical tuners as 1 and 2 and DVBLink tuners as 3 to 6. There are also a couple of DVB-T tuners (7 and 8). EPGCollector is configured to use tuner 2 at the moment but I have also tried with tuner 1. As a test I did a scan of 11778000 using DVB Viewer and I can see it finds 3 channels including "EPG Background Audio". I've tried with DVBLink both running and disabled but still get nothing. Anyone got any ideas?

I suppose the Dish parameters are ok?

It works with DVBLink ok - the Collector just can't use the DVBLink virtual tuners. I don't know why DVBViewer only saw 3 channels - when it works there are something like 900.

If the dish parameters are correct can you run it wth Trace:BDA in the ini file and PM me the log.

I suppose the Dish parameters are ok?

It works with DVBLink ok - the Collector just can't use the DVBLink virtual tuners. I don't know why DVBViewer only saw 3 channels - when it works there are something like 900.

If the dish parameters are correct can you run it wth Trace:BDA in the ini file and PM me the log.

I believe the dish parameters are OK - they are the ones that I have used in DVBViewer and DVBLink to scan for my channels. When I said DVBViwer found 3 or 4 channels, I meant if I do a scan of just 11778000 in DVBViewer, then I just see these. If I let it scan all the transponders then I get all channels.

I have PM'd you my log with BDA trace on.

Has anyone managed to successfully set EPGCollector up as a scheduled task in windows 7 ,I have set it up to run 1 hour before BIG SCREEN EPG but it crashes everytime.BSEPG works perfect but this is not running as a scheduled task (the log file is also empty).The program just crashes when trying to run a scheduled task in windows 7.Any help appreciated.

Have you tried running the task with the "Run with highest privileges" option set.

I also find running the collector in a batch file then the batch file as a scheduled task easy.

The whole point is that along with option from epg collector you can retry the task until you get a result of 0 which indicates epgcollector completed ok.

My current batch file checks if there is a scheduled task for epg collection and if not it creates it, then it backs up some of the ProgramData directory files or restores them if they are not there so I don't lose any of the programs settings. Then it runs epgcollector, followed by wget, then a perl script to tidy up the xml file, then it runs epgimporter, and I have a BSE section in there but it is REM'd as I am testing epgimporter at the moment.

I run mine with a batch file also, albeit no where as cool as browned, -none of the error checking etc, I figure if it fails, it will run next time, plus as I am stopping dvblink server (depends on whether you use DVBLink of coarse) as It has caused conflicts in the past.

If I wasn't killing the dvblink server process I might implement browneds error checking, but as it stands I wouldn't want it in an endless loop and thus prevent recording stuff - the boss would kill me and then remind me about how much more reliable the Tivo is and kill me again :-)

My batch file also runs the BSE task and therefore I have also disabled the separate BSE task from the scheduler.

Mine runs fine without the highest privilege - although I have also turned UAC off as it was required when I used to run DVBLink for DVBViewer,

I have also set it to run as a specific user (remember to enter both the username and password) the account I use is the same one I normally auto logon to w7 with,

On the conditions tab, I have also ticked "wake computer to run this task", so that it wakes the PC up to run it if it is asleep.

Here's My batch File:
