$39 Sennheiser Headphones, model SNHD202-II
http://www.noelleeming.co.nz/shop/product-view.ep?pID=104749

Got some and like them.

(+ Wrote a whole post and lost it...)

I have some HD-202's and the plastic panel inside them presses on my ears and they hurt after about half an hour.  This however was greatly improved by stuffing extra foam under the pads.  It also can get a bit hot in there, i suppose the same goes for any circumaural 'phones.

However the bass on these things is great, and the sound in general, especially at the price point.  I've had them for many years with a lot of use and abuse (after the foam mod) and although I did have to do a cable repair on one side, they are otherwise mint.  At the same time I ran the cable for that channel around the headband so it only comes out of one side.

However my px-100's get a lot more use.  Great sound (if a smidge laid-back), very adequate bass, light and comfortable.  I can easily wear them all day and then they fold up into a compact carry case to come home with me.

Being open as they are you can still hear what's going on around you, and your close neighbours can hear what you're listening to, which may be an advantage in some circumstances.  They also suffer less from the "boomy" character which comes with some closed phones.

Ha that's half of what I'm using them for lately as I walk to the bus early on a winters morning!

Agree with all you're saying.  They don't quite cover my ears like the Panasonic ones I was using did, the HD202's are a bit smaller cup size as such.

Bass is good, not too boomy as people had said, at least with my source gear, so I'm happy about that and I'm not needing to dial it down with EQ etc.  Highs are good, lows are good, mids are a bit lacking, but so far I'm happy for the price.  Make that very happy.  Best $40 I've spent in a long while.

3m cable though, crazy.

Yes.  That is one other thing about the px-100, perfect cable length for pocket device or laptop.

Good thing they include a spool with the 202 (or used to).

Yes they still do, but even that is quite big.  I think I'll be re terminating to a smaller length cord.

Others have suggested converting to single side connection too, but in practise this has not been such a big issue for me as I thought it may have been.

Harvey Norman does a philips over ear phones for $39 very amazing sound for the price. I can't remember the model - its in a pink box (the box, not the headphones)

Having said that I own a set of Bose QC15's and they are like heaven when listening - literally. If you can start saving for one, it is worth every single cent paid for it (and more when you factor your sanity when listening in a noisy environment)

I have used the QC15s and I admit that the noise cancelling performance is excellent, but the sonic performance is cold and flat compared with the much cheaper Sennheiser alternatives.

Too late, sold out, - said you'd cleared them out of stock with your bulk purchase last month?

What can I say? I was lucky enough to negotiate a commercial rate on a 'decent number'.
Have PM'd you with prices if you want to purchase a pair off my at a special 'reduced' rate.
Two sets come with bonus One Direction sticker packs, if you want I could throw some in?
